I use cheap band aids if I know I'm going to be crocheting for a long period of time. Or you can use finger cots (aka finger condoms) on a finger.
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Hat from an online game (AFK Hat from Gaia) on: September 14, 2008 09:17:13 PM
Well, i totally love hats that have animals ears/faces on them.  Sooooo of course I love this one you made.  Did you write down the pattern per chance?  Just wondering.  I love it, and sooo want one! Grin

I used a combination of an online pattern and my own. I'll edit the first post with the pattern links and whatnot when I get around to it.

So I used this pattern from missjoy: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=135799.10 except that I did a few rounds of dc before I did the ribbing. Then I crocheted 3 rounds of ribbing. For the earflaps I did 1 row (10 sts) of sc then 4 of dc.

When that was done I did 1 final round of just sc. Eyes and heart are self explanatory.

Based off of this hat from gaiaonline.com

I made it out of Lion Brand Jiffy in white using 2 skeins. Took me less than a week.

Do not join rounds. Instead, use a stitch marker to mark the first sc of each round.

Hats and scarves are the gifts I make.

I made amigurumi for some people before but they didn't appreciate all the work I put into it.

They look so lifelike!
10  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Frustration on: October 15, 2007 09:41:14 AM

I think a lot of the problem is there just aren't that many patterns for pretty crochet things.  Crochet! Crochet Today, and Crochet Me just don't cut it for me.  There's usually something decent in every issue, but they're no Knitty.

I definitely agree with that.
