11  Re: 'Kate' from Winter Knitty! in Knitting: Completed Projects by Knit_Dork24 on: January 11, 2006 09:43:59 AM
Eek! Everyone's Kate's are awesome! I posted mine on the KAL thread but I'll post here, too. I made mine out of scrap LB Wool-Ease. I re-named mine Andes because his sweater colors remind me of the after dinner mint we all know and love.  Roll Eyes

Keep it coming!!

12  Re: last minute knitalong- winter knitty's "Kate" in Knitalongs by Knit_Dork24 on: December 30, 2005 05:39:54 AM
Thanks to everyone for posting and inspiring me to make this. I finished mine a few days ago. I used some leftover LB Wool-Ease on size 7 needles. What a fun (and quick) project! I might be inclined to make the piggie version thanks to bespectacle! I've found you really have to stuff it just right and place the arms and legs more towards the front to get good results.

Kate is actually a boy and I renamed him Andes because his sweater colors remind me of that famous after-dinner mint. There's a cute Andes' story on my blog. THANKS!!

13  Re: Blackberry from Knitty KAL in Knitalongs by Knit_Dork24 on: November 17, 2005 05:42:57 AM
Well, I finished. I am not happy with it. It was a lot of work and it is a poor fit, although at least it fits. I think it is the shape. It is very bunchy in some places. If I were to knit it over again (which I am not), I would not do the reverse stockinette, too messy looking. I can see all of the decrease/increase spots. Perhaps that is my lack of knitting skill. I also would knit one size smaller. I want to frog it but I have no idea what to knit with the yarn ( which is knitpick sierra in cranberry color.) It was a learning experience. I did my first cables on this project, which came out great. This was also my first time successfully picking up stitches.

I had the same problem, Shan. I finished this the other night and I've already started to frog it for all the same reasons you want to. I really think this sweater is meant for smaller girls (I'm tall and kind of busty). Or this might be better in worsted weight yarn or smaller. That might help get rid of the bulk. I agree that this was a learning experience. Oh well, onto to the Dayflower Scarf. Here's a picture, though. I hope others have better luck.  Sad

I'm currently knitting up sleeve #2. I figured I'd share a progress pic of some of the pieces I have so far. I like looking at progress pics, I hope you do too (and hopefully it works):

I also have a pic of completed sleeve #1 (slightly irregular) on my blog http://eat-sleep-knit.blogspot.com

I love how it's turning out so far. I can't wait to finish!! How is everyone else doing?

15  1 skein of yucky Red Heart Supersaver in Knitting: Completed Projects by Knit_Dork24 on: November 07, 2005 01:27:21 PM
Check out what I made from a lone skein of Supersaver Multi:

The fingerless gloves are from Midnight Knitter. The scarf is Edgar from Knitty. The belt is my own creation.

There's more details and another pic on my blog. Thanks for looking!! Grin

17  Chinese Charm Bag in Rainbow Boucle (pics) in Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller by Knit_Dork24 on: August 27, 2005 05:16:49 AM
Hi, all!  Cheesy I'm pretty much a newb here. This is my first posted project. It's the chinese charm bag from SnB 1, and it's in rainbow boucle. I used size 10, 29" circulars because I couldn't find 24". But I definately like the way this turned out. I found the yarn at a Joann's Megastore. It's a huge skein (dubbed the "egg" by my husband), and with my coupon I got it for about $5 and I still have a lot left. (knit dork loves bargains). What do you think?
