Well I'm not sure if you're asking for something she could play with or not, but for my daughter I crochet her hats (especially ones with animal ears-bears, bunnies, frog hats that kind of thing), flowers for her hair or clothes, headband with flowers, little maryjane style slippers/baby booties that kind of thing. I'm not much for making blankets... repetitive patterns drive me mad.
With a small amount of yarn and some ribbon I made some cute little ballet style booties and my daughter (age 3) loves them and best part is they don't take a lot of time since they are small, but they come out cute.
For something to play with.. most babies love little soft cuddly bunnies or bears really small with a handle on it so they can hold onto. I've also seen crochet baby blocks and those are just squares sewn together with foam or stuffing inside.
