1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Springy Zipper Pouches! Hedgehogs, Gnomes, Birds and more! on: March 05, 2011 01:07:34 PM
I have been a busy little sewing-bee these past few days! I finished these pouches today (and have 2 hobo bags just waiting to be finished up too!) and thought I'd share. A few of them are a double zipper design, which is new to me, but I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out! I ordered some great new fabrics and had fun turning them into something fun and useful!

Okay.. onto the cuteness!

First is the little hedgehog love zipper pouch!

Gnome-y goodness!

And cute little love birds! (I'm giving this away in my blog too! (can I say that here?  Huh ))

Then, a pouch design that is pretty usual for me, but I still love it. A birdie applique.

All of the double zipper pouches were made with cottons. I did not use a pattern or tute, so I just kind of winged it.

The bird applique pouch is made from a wool-felt and lined in cotton.

What do you think? The double zipper pouches seem okay?

Thanks for looking! Smiley
2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Seeking some blog advice! :) on: March 01, 2011 11:18:18 AM
Hey hey!

So I'm in the process of re-opening my etsy shop and have been updating my blog on my progress. I'm also setting up a new sewing studio and stuff too!

I used to get awesome traffic on my blog and I'd love to get that back. I know it will help once I'm actually up and sewing again but I was hoping to get a few opinions.

My blog link is in my sig.. but I'm curious to know what you guys think of my blog? Is it too personal, or do you like to have a bit of personal stuff mixed in with craftiness? I'm also planning on doing a mailing list through my blog that incorporates updates and sales in my etsy shop. What do you guys think of mailing lists?

Any comments are much appreciated! Craftsters have always been so helpful to me!
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / The Poppy Gal Gadget bag! on: August 09, 2009 07:57:28 PM
Gosh, it's been ages since I've sewn, let alone posted anything on craftster! Anyhoot, I'm back in the swing of things and this is my first creation.

This pouch was made to carry things that need extra TLC. It's interfaced and padded and has a little clip to make carrying it around super easy. I also appliqued a poppy on the front and added a cute button for extra flare.

I'm happy with my first real sewn item in almost a year!  Smiley

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Mossy Green Handbag and Pouch on: March 16, 2008 10:07:58 AM
My friends think this purse looks like a kidney bean!  Tongue

But I really love the color combo and it's similar to a design I've done before, but the shape is totally different.

It's made from wool felt and cottons, with leaf motif applique on the front. Matching zipper pouch too! What do you think of the shape, think it looks odd?

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / A few new bags and wallets.. I've been busy! on: March 06, 2008 04:00:03 PM
I just re-stashed my fabric supply and have been having lots of fun sewing up some new goodies. Here's a few of the things I've completed recently.

Apple Mouse Messenger bag: Made from some fantastic wool and cute japanese import linen blend fabric. I just love it!

Ahoy Clutch: Some more fantastic wool and anchor applique on front.

Sweet little sheep wallet: More import fabric! I love how this wallet turned out.

Birdy Zipper pouch: Found this fabric and had to have it!

*Whew!* I still have more things I'd like to make too. Any comments/suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!  Smiley

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Ellia Hat... With pattern link! on: February 25, 2008 12:41:59 AM
So this is my Ellia Hat design. It's such a versatile hat and can be worn several ways. The first pictured is made from a bulky 100% alpaca yarn from Frog Tree. The second is a worsted weight alpaca from Blue Sky.

There are more pics and finally a pattern on my blog.

If you make an Ellia, I'd love to see it!

Also, I'd just like to thank Tina, my hat model, for being so patient and understanding during the photo shoot.

Tina.. you're fantastic.  Wink
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Anchors Away Tote Bag! on: February 24, 2008 06:23:06 PM
I'm so satisfied with the way this bag turned out! A skirt and pair of shoes inspired this tote bag, and everything went exactly the way I wanted it to.
The straps are tied at the top, but can be untied for messenger bag style carrying. Two pockets inside and one on the back.

The main fabric is a dark navy blue corduroy. So rich in color in person. I'm addicted to corduroy! Wink

Back pocket:

What do you think about the straps? Look funny being tied?

Thanks for looking! Smiley

8  ASIA / Japan / Yikes! Can you help me? on: February 22, 2008 02:31:19 AM
So, I'm kind of an idiot, but maybe someone can help!

I was browsing the net and found a site based out of Japan that sells craft supplies, so I used a site translator to look around.

Well, I decided to place an order (they seemed to ship overseas) and did everything for the checkout. I got to the submit page, and then changed my mind because I was a bit scared.  Roll Eyes But, I somehow clicked submit and I think my order went through.

Then my translator went out and I have no idea what happened! I'm assuming my order went through because I got an email (that I can't read!).

All figured out!

I guess what I'm asking for is maybe another friendly craftster would be willing to read that email and tell me what's going on? lol

Help?  Huh
9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / apples and mice, trees and birds, robots and matryoshka dolls galore! on: February 19, 2008 11:22:01 PM
I've been waiting on a fabric order to come in, and it did!

So, instead of my usual zipper pouches, I made these box pouches instead. They range in size from 10" - 6" long.

Aren't the fabrics the cutest?! And it took me for.ev.er to figure out how to get this box pouches just right. But, it was certainly worth the effort.
10  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Penny Bunny on: February 14, 2008 05:32:25 PM
I really wanted to make an Easter bunny last year, but I never got around to it, so I started really early this time around.

This is my first Doll, so please be gently on me! I certainly need to tweak the design a bit, but I still think she turned out ok.

There's more info about her on my blog.

I'd love to hear some tips and tricks if you'd like to share.

Thanks for looking!

Happy Valentines Day.
