That is absolutely adorable!  Cheesy

Amazing appliques too. I bet your friend and her baby will adore it! This is an excellent idea for a baby gift too. (Is thinking... Do I know anyone with a new baby?)

That's gorgeous! I'm so jealous of people with embroidery machines. So many neat things you can do.

Fantastic job!  Smiley

17  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Seeking some blog advice! :) on: March 01, 2011 11:18:18 AM
Hey hey!

So I'm in the process of re-opening my etsy shop and have been updating my blog on my progress. I'm also setting up a new sewing studio and stuff too!

I used to get awesome traffic on my blog and I'd love to get that back. I know it will help once I'm actually up and sewing again but I was hoping to get a few opinions.

My blog link is in my sig.. but I'm curious to know what you guys think of my blog? Is it too personal, or do you like to have a bit of personal stuff mixed in with craftiness? I'm also planning on doing a mailing list through my blog that incorporates updates and sales in my etsy shop. What do you guys think of mailing lists?

Any comments are much appreciated! Craftsters have always been so helpful to me!

18  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: Etsy Shop: Stick to one type of craft or a little of everything? on: March 01, 2011 11:13:55 AM
I'm re-opening my etsy shop after a few years of being MIA and I do like to do a bit of everything, but I think I maintain a good overall feel and theme. My stuff has a sort of signature look to it I think (and hope!), so I think doing a bit of this and that can work.

But I have seem shops that just look all over the place. I think it's best to stick with one type of thing and do your best to perfect it.

and like it's been said.. Photos make a huge difference and can really make a shop cohesive even with a mix of products.

There's a lot of great ideas in this thread!

I'm re-opening my etsy shop soon and needed a refresher to get back into the swing of things.

I'm a big fan of doing blog give-aways, I like to include little freebies (like keychains and such with my shop address/name on them) and definitely business cards as well as Thank You postcards that occasionally include specials like free shipping etc.

I've found that word of mouth has been my biggest help towards sales. I tell everyone what I do when I get the chance, and even leave business cards behind at restaurants if I get a waiter/waitress that I think will dig my stuff.

I have yet to make a Facebook Fan page thought I'm thinking about it. Anyone who's done it, how do you like it? Do you think it helps?
