131  Autumn Wood Sprite Fairy Crown in Halloween Costumes by seaofstars on: October 14, 2005 08:41:52 PM
I started making these back in high school. I was a wood sprite one year and needed an earthy type fairy crown for my costume.

And my fairy crowns were born!

I haven't made one in ages, so I dug through my stash today for all of my autumn-y stuff and put this together.

Sorry the pics are so ugh..

its much prettier and "cleaner" looking in person..

The pictures are pretty sad, but I'm working it...  Roll Eyes

red corudroy outside (doesn't photo well) and sea creatures flannel inside.

Inside:

Umbrellas!

Polka Dots!

The insides are all the same style. They have a snap closure.

What do you guys think about pricing?  Huh They're about 8x5.5 when folded.

Thanks for peeking!! Grin

yay! Rhubie just recieved her clutch today!  Grin

She wanted something "Old Hollywood" Style, and when I found this cute little applique in my stash, I thought it was perfect! The inside is lined in a swirly red and has two id/card pockets.

Now that my swap partner has recieved.. I can post a pic!

I made this for taloola for the Ongong wish list swap. She wanted something chicken-esque..

There's a pocket on the back, along with one or two inside (can't remember..).

Close up of the applique:

I used a bead for the eye.. I hate sewing little eyes.

137  Mod clutch and purse... and fabric store finds! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by seaofstars on: October 13, 2005 02:12:56 PM
Went to the fabric store today, and I must say I'm pretty proud of my findings!

For just under $10:

    * 13 zippers, different colors and sizes
    * 3 buckle things (great for decorating purses and making belts!)
    * TONS of misc. buttons
    * 3 packages of different little button on appliques (cute stuff!)
    * 1 yard of ric-rac
    * 1/2 yard lilac silk
    * 1 yard cute black and white tweed
    * 2 yards black duck cloth stuff (I love it for purses!)
    * 1 yard khaki twill
    * 1 small big of loose sequins

yep... happy girl is me. (not to mention bargain shopper!) eep!

And so, from the tweed comes:

eh. i'm not really happy with the trim around the handles. I wanted white just for a more "mod" look, but it looks a bit sloppy to me.

and..

small little clutch, with snap closure, button for fun.

side view

i'm not a big tweed fan, but i was feeling a little funky today. found an old record of mine, "British Invasion" from the 60's... think thats what got me going.  Grin

138  Re: Pyramid studs n' plaid bag for fall **NOW WITH TUTORIAL** very img heavy!! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by seaofstars on: October 04, 2005 09:00:41 AM
thingwraith..

i actually did and was going to post it but forgot! anyway...

i just cut the little footbally shapes and sewed down the top edge of the shape onto the purse fronts and backs BEFORE darting the corners.

then, I folded in the purse corners, pulling away the felt and then added my darts. Then, you can flip it over, and its super easy to pleat the felt and baste it down.

Does that make sense? if not, I can try to get some pics to help understand it better. I guess you just have to do or have it in your hands.

EDIT: heres a quick illustration...

You totally saved me with your plaid bag! I've been playing around with the same shape for awhile and an example is here : http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=56232.0
its the skull bag!

But, you helped me find a way to change the outcome a bit, and a way to use my friggin ric-rac and felt scraps!

You Rock!
