My newest kanzashi creation ^.^ I've been getting back into making kanzashi's ever since I made the comb for the collegue I worked with. I recently bought some new fabric which I just had to try out! Here it another one I made with my latest fabric additions:

Purple Royalty Kanzashi


This one is my favourite since I absolutely adore purple XD

For those unfamiliar with the tsumami technique, these hair accessories are made by folding little square pieces of fabric. A tedious task but a very rewarding one when the kanzashi is finished

So even though I had decided selling crafts wasn't for me in the past, after being jobless for a month I decided to give it another shot. The trouble is, it takes me quite a long time to complete each piece...so it makes them quite expensive (at least in my eyes).

So I'm wondering whether I should go ahead with my plan or call it quits before I spend too much money. Anyways, to my original question...would you pay AUD$20 plus postage for http://kanzashi-hime.deviantart.com/art/A-touch-of-Red-Gold-Kanzashi-146562590 ? I base my price on labor and material costs.

Also, what would you expect (quality wise) from a product priced this much?

Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated!

This kanzashi is going to be a gift to a lady at work who's always been friendly and helpful towards me, she really is one of the sweetest people I've ever had the pleasure to met. Anyways, while I was wearing one of my kanzashi's as a hair accessory to work, she commented how lovely it was. As this is my last week at work, I decided to give her something as a thank you present for being so nice.

It's my first time making a kanzashi on a hair comb, it was an extremely messy job and I've managed to put glue on my favourite pair of jeans and give myself some blisters from the hot glue...really, the things we do for our love for crafting lol.

Update: I gave it to her and she loved it! I was so happy

It's been so long since I've last made Japanese Kanzashi's, they are so time consuming and I have so little free time lol. I'm really hoping to get around to making some proper full version ones to wear with my Furisode for a convention next year.

This is a wedding cake topper I made for my brother's wedding. It's my first attempt at using polymer clay - I decided to make it because it would of cost $300 to buy one!! eeek! I was inspired to do the characters exactly like their wedding invitations, hopefully I can scan one to show you soon- it was just so cute!

Hi there!!

First off, I wasn't really sure where this should go so please don't be made if I should be somewhere else.My question is "How do you make rice paste??". I went googling and searching but so far all the methods I've tried have turned into...well a glob of I-have-no-idea. I realise there are some places that sell rice starch powder that can be cooked but unfortunately I'm living in an area where I can't get my hands on some.

I've heard that you can use rice flour, and i've tried, but once again my glue was too thick and ended not being glue. Anybody have any suggestions??

Wow, haven't posted in ages.

Well here's my newest work, it's an art project I did for my 2D painting assessment. Took me a whole 6.5 hours to sew the furisode...yeah, a looong time, but that's cause I had to figure out how to work the machine, this is pretty much my first time sewing lol. No pattern, just some basic idea of how to cut it using a doll making site.

You probably noticed the kanzashi used is the same one I posted earlier on ^^

Not exactly my best, but I was kinda...umm cramming it lol, I pretty much painted the whole thing, save the maiko, overnight and on the day it way due ^^; yes, silly me. Ok now let's see if I can get some pics on!
