Oooh I love OTTs! Although I came up with my themes rather quickly and now I'm wishing I'd put flowers down...
13  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 36 ENTRIES / Sweet Judy Blue Eyes on: March 03, 2009 11:33:12 AM
My favorite song of all time is Suite: Judy Blue Eyes by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. So when I saw this challenge, I decided to work with the song title to make this yarn:

Sweet Judy
Handspun and dyed
108 yards

I think it's going to become a hat for my favorite blue-eyed person.
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Lucky Clover Shrug on: January 24, 2009 09:26:44 PM
That looks really great! I love the color, too. As far as closing it, what about a wide silk ribbon dyed to match?
15  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Don't be a square! Knit one! Knit SIXTEEN! Pretty Knitted Blanket! on: January 24, 2009 08:57:12 PM
This is so beautiful! I love the different textures all in the same color--especially the white.
16  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Ruby Red Cardigan on: January 24, 2009 08:55:04 PM
This cardigan has been an odyssey. I decided in early 2007 that I had to have a U-neck, raglan, 3/4 sleeve cardigan, and promptly cast on in pea green. A year and much perseverance later, I had the world's ugliest sweater. I definitely learned from my mistakes! Though this is far from perfect (the neckline won't lay flat and I forgot to take my boobs into account), it's far better than my first attempt, and it was dirt cheap.

Here you can see what I'm talking about: the front barely closes. If I leave the top two buttons undone, it's much better.

You can see how the neckline tends to curl under in back.

I knit this in Caron Simply Soft from the top down on size 8 circulars. My favorite part is the buttons. You can't tell, but they're square, translucent, and glittery! They were a little expensive, but the woman running the checkout counter gave them to me for half off. :-)

If I could do it again, I'd shorten the sleeves a bit (or lengthen them) since they're a little awkward, place the raglans better, and be more careful picking up stitches for the neckline/button band.

Oh my god. There's actually a recipe for that? Wow...
18  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: other crafts to use up cheap yarn? on: November 08, 2008 05:49:02 PM
ME TOO.

I have so much crappy acrylic that I can't bring to toss out (because hey, it's still yarn) but that I'm having a hard time working into projects. I was thinking a blanket, but there's got to be a shorter solution.
19  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / International knitting blog? on: September 27, 2008 03:49:10 PM
Hello everyone! I'm working on a class project where we have to discuss some aspect of globalization, and I'd like to write about the effects of globalization on the knitting community, especially the knit blogging community. I'm looking for a knitting (or crafting) blog either based in a non-English speaking country (but hopefully with English translations :-P) or one with a very large and diverse international readership. Does anybody have any recommendations? I'd really appreciate it! Thanks in advance!
20  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Yarn purchasing habits? on: September 16, 2008 05:21:12 PM
So, I spin yarn and knit (both with handspun and store-bought yarn) and I was wondering what other people thought about yarn. I tend to buy less expensive yarn at the store, but anything goes with handspun. I guess when it comes to nice yarn, I'm willing to spend a ton, but for mediocre yarn, I won't spend nearly as much, which is weird, now that I think about it.

How much do you tend to spend on yarn? Where do you go shopping for it? What kind of yarn do you prefer best?
