Cricket Cove. The employees are really nice, and they sell some fantastic yarns and rovings. I go there often to browse and mentally pick out my next purchases. :p
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Around the World CD Swap on: May 18, 2006 01:16:27 PM
My CD from Madness arrived today, along with two bars of chocolate, a nifty card, and some origami paper! Thank you, Madness!

I can't post a picture of it all, alas, since I only have Internet access from work at the moment, but tomorrow, I'll post a track listing, just so I can show off the new additions to my music collection. *grins*

Well, we are at least getting CDs with souvenirs, and spiffy decorated covers!

I'm just glad my partner got their package. I was beginning to wonder if it had gotten lost in the mail or something!
6  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Ancient Cultures Swap (Sign ups:CLOSED)(SENDBY 25 May) on: April 25, 2006 04:31:39 PM

...OMG, that just gave me a new swap idea the "butchered languages swap"...  I should post that  Grin

Oh god, that would be wonderful! I've had some spectacular mistranslations that I've both done and heard in my time.

If you ever do that swap, I am totally signing up!

Kalispera, SparroWinter! Me lene Xamonster. (Pardon the fragmented modern Greek, but don't you just hate transliterating Greek characters?)

I think I only understood that in context. *laughs* It's been years since I studied any form of Greek, realy, and the most I remember from that class is how to say, "Life is hard" and "The ox is beautiful." (Long story on that last one. :p) I really need to dig out my textbook and go through it again. That class was a lot of fun.

I said, "Good afternoon, SparroWinter! My name is Xamonster." Our thing was always "I throw the king into the sea." Funny in both Latin and Greek ... but I digress.

Heh heh. It's always funny to find random abscure phrases in other languages. During my first year of French, tyhe big thing with my friends and I was "sarcophage de sarasin" (buckwheat sarcophagus) Damned if I know how we came up with that one!

Because I'm crazy and had an hour to kill, I made this:

For those of us who are button-crazy bloggers  Grin

The most amusing part about that is that a lot of people will see the button and ask what an "Ancient Culture Swan" is. *laughs* *treasures her memories of Ancient Greek class in university*
