1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Double-Breasted Box Jacket <3 on: December 22, 2006 02:23:51 PM
Thank you!

The skirt-dress idea was something I came up with a couple years ago.

I was exploring for new clothes in my mommy's closet, and after finding some fabulous skirts, I retired to my room to see what I could do with them.

They were way to long for my taste, and so I tried lifting the waist higher and higher until I finally realized the armpit level created the perfect dress.

Thank God for my mommy's ultra long skirts. <3

What creativity you have for making the straps so unique. :]

And I love the rosette (who doesn't?) even if I can't see it.

I love thrift stores too.  They are the food of the crafters' souls.

thank you so much everyone for all your comments. all of you have made my day!

how much did you pay for it?

to TAddictedAngelT, i payed about 5 dollars at goodwill for the original dress. somewhat more than i would have liked, but im pleased with the end result so im not complaining. :]

wow that is a great re-con!  Also the way you pieced it with the victorian looking blouse underneath and the mini....such a great outfit.  It makes it chic and elegant and vintagey looking while the mini keeps it from being frumpy in anyway.  Excellent work.

why thank you. i am flattered and my fashion sense is too. :]

i love the comfiness (i could only imagine, bcos i cant really feel it over the net Grin), and the way it fits you.

good job on the recon!

and lots of goodwill love. :]

thank you for the comments!

actually, i forgot to say that the original was actually a dress with one honking slit up the middle. if you couldnt already tell.

and if you notice in the picture, theres a set of dangling pearl ornaments from the left breast. there was another set on the other side, but i took the picture halfway through the process of taking the ornaments off (bcos i didnt really like them.. reminded me of a similar old, itchy dress my mom used to make me wear back in the day :] ha)

but again, thanks for all the comments! :]
