1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Garbage Draft Stopper on: January 29, 2012 02:07:32 PM
My house is 169 years old and is very drafty so I went online and found a pattern for a draft dodger made out of plarn. I have been saving used dryer sheets and yarn snips for a while now and so was born my draft stopper constructed completely of trash. I made the plarn out of grocery bags and crocheted the tub e which i stuffed with my trash ive been hoarding along with the grocery bag handles and some bread and bagel bags. It smells good and does the job so I am happy!

2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / A Turtle Shell for Avalon on: January 26, 2012 09:31:28 AM
My son Avalon has a rare condition known as congenital kyphosis and has to wear a flex foam back brace until he is like 3 years old and they can do surgery on his spine. Instead of putting said brace on child and leaving it alone as most parents would I felt the need to "tweek" it, which I'm sure you fellow craftsters understand. I painted the brace with acrylic paints and coated it with mod podge. Next step, everyone we know will be armed with a sharpie to john hancock it like a cast. Anyway enough of my blabbing. Here it is...lemme know what ya think!

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Subwoofer Lamp on: February 07, 2008 08:18:21 AM
This is the result of my fiancee and his best friend getting bored. They had a blown subwoofer that they just couldn't part with and I absolutely love the end result. I'm sure they would love any comments or suggestions as they now want to continue making stuff like this. Wink

4  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Ramen Noodle (Ghetto Noodles, Crackhead Soup) on: August 01, 2007 12:20:10 PM
Halloween 2006. I think this one was my favorite so far. Mom and I crafted this one from a sliding curtain rod (to fit through doorways) felt lettering and accents, red sweatshirt fabric (walmart special) an old curtain for the light yellow and twine for the "noodles". I had a fleece "noodle hat" complete with little bits of seasoning crafted from felt and chopsticks to act as bobby pins for my "hair do". And of course the costume wouldn't have been complete without the flavoring packet goodie bag, which was also made from fabric and my moms talent mixed with a red sharpie. We really had fun making and wearing this one. Among the pictures you will spot the infamous "mom" wearing none other than the whoopee cushion! We can't wait until Halloween 2007.

5  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Whoopee Cushion on: August 01, 2007 11:52:35 AM
Halloween 2005. I saw a picture of a whoopee cushion costume and mom and I decided that it looked very cheap so we decided to make our own. I picked up the salmon fleece at walmart for $2 a yard and the color was perfect. The frame of the costume was made from one of those magic sunshade things so that you could collapse the costume to drive or sit......or fit through a doorway. It was a very warm costume. Mom hand drew the picture on the front and had quite the laugh as we were attempting to make the "hat." We werent quite sure of the correct spelling of "whoopee" so we had to go buy a real cushion. And then just to top it all off my mommy bought me a fart whistle. Shes so great! (She actually wore this costume to a bar in 2006)

6  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Kraft Mac & Cheese costume on: August 01, 2007 11:38:13 AM
This is a costume that I made the day before halloween in 2004.Talk about last minute. My mom always tells me I'm a little bit different but thats what people love about me. Then there are the ones who tell me I'm too old to dress up but they dont know anything. I carried a colander for my goodies and yes those are real noodles glued to my front along with a wooden spoon that I hope my mom didnt want anymore. My boyfriends costume was thrown together about an hour before we walked out the door. We stapled foam bones to his mechanics coveralls and my mom did a great job on his make-up. She also made my cheese hat. Kudos to mom!

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Grateful Dead Illusion Blanket on: August 01, 2007 06:46:12 AM
I have been a member of craftster for a while now, however this is my first post. I got bored and crafty one day and created the pattern for this blanket. It looks like a bunch of colored boxes on the blanket but when you turn it the right way the dead bear heads emerge. I am really happy with the way this blanket turned out. It is basically the same size as a queen sized comforter and weighs about as much as a mid-size SUV. enjoy!
