2  A Native American inspired skirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Eremira on: July 03, 2006 01:13:32 PM
Lately I've been reading a lot about Native Americans and I'm very touched by their philosophy of live.I'm starting to love everything that has to do with them, so I got inspired to make this skirt.

The dream catcher came up not so good, but as I'm not a very experienced sewer, I still love this skirt.

I've used hemp cord for dream catcher and for ties at sides, than I crocheted feathers and at the end I used acrylic paints for other details.

Hope you like it!

So I'm the first one to post pics here. My partner khushali_s received my packet, so I will post pics of what I sent.I'm so glad that packed arrived safely as I was very afraid, shiping from third world countries can be difficult sometimes...

I had great time crafting! Here is what I sent

I sent her a Sushi roll bag  -because she loves japanesse food
Crochet sunflower coin purse and sunflower pin - her favourite flower
Dangle maccaroni-pasta earrings and matching necklace
3 pairs of handpainted nail art
5 bookmarks- 3 with pics of 7 wonders of the world and 2 collage fashion bookmarks
A cd with mixed Albanian music
2 crocheted flowers
And random candies ( not in pic)

Here is a pic of all together

4  Re: Crochet belts! in Crochet: Completed Projects by Eremira on: March 02, 2006 03:23:03 PM
Ok here goes pic tutorial. It was very hard to take pics during progress so pls be gentle. This tutorial is only for newbies, I know that you crochet godessess will laugh at my silly explanations  Roll Eyes

Make a knot arround the hook

Crochet a row with 14 stitches

Turn and make a  double stich ( I think this is correct name for it)

Continue untill you finish this row

Turn and make 4 stiches

Make a double stich but leave a hole with 2 stiches ( Huh)

Make another double crochet

Make 4 stiches than double crochet, leaving 4 stiches as a hole

Make 2 stiches than double crochet

Continue like this until desired length

After you finish, lets decorate it a bit.Start like this

Make 3 stiches arround the edge

Than make a double stich

Than make 3 triple ( Huh) stiches

Than make one double stich and one single stich and finnish will look like a petal

Make 2 more single stiches arround the edge ( so 3 in total)

Repeat until you finish

After you finish on both sides of belt than add ribbon.

I suck at explanations but I hope instructions are clear in pics. And I'm pretty sure I mixed up the names of stiches...

I hope I've helped anyone....

those are soo cute!  Smiley
you know, i was actually thinking about making jewelry with plastic/glass cameos, too. but i haven't found any in the craft supply stores i know  Sad

I live in a postwar country called Kosovo, and there are no craft supply stores at all! So most of the things I have to make myself. Now I will tell you a secret: a friend of mine brought me a set of necklace and earrings with cameo  and I fell in love with it.Because I can't find cameos here I decided to make my own.
I took that set that I have and put it into terracota clay, so I made form out of it.Now I use that form to make my own cameos.(sorry for my crapy explanation, I can't speak english very well  Roll Eyes

In pic you can see original set, terracota form and one reproducted cameo.

Thank you for replies!

Those may be simple to you--heck I can't crochet--but they are gorgeous.  The ribbons look fanstastic.  Model?  How thick are they?

I thought that will never learn to crochet, but it was very easy! Of course I'm newbie but basic steps are not so hard.I'm sure you can teach yourself very quickly!

Yeah, they're very pretty- how do they look on a person, though? Model, model? =P

Belts are not very thick, they fit in jeans just like regular belts.Of course they can be made thicker   Cheesy
