Can't wait!  I made two things in preparation for this swap.  Smiley

It's fun.  Smiley

Looking for a woodburning kit.  What makes a woodburning kit good?

Sending in my questionnaire!  I might end up knitting a smallish bag for my partner!  Smiley
24  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: how do you make mushrooms appetizing? on: September 27, 2013 08:38:49 AM
I love mushrooms but the white button mushrooms get me to gag every time.  I think it's the fact that they are rather tasteless.

Mushrooms have an earthy taste and they absorb everything you add to 'em.

My favourite thing to do with portabello mushrooms:
-  soak 'em in a mixture of soy sauce, veggie stock, and garlic  (poke holes in both the top and the bottom using a fork)
-  drain and pat 'em dry
-  fry 'em over high heat until the surface is brown
-  eat like a burger!

I also like to add garlic, onions, a little bit of red wine, to cooking mushrooms and puree 'til soft.  It's a good consistency for spreading and tastes good too!
25  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / First Time Carving Lino and Finished Product (Monster Hunter Logo) on: September 18, 2013 07:27:19 PM
Okay, I'm loving the details that you can do in lino.  (Although, I ended up stabbing myself twice with dull tools.  Ow.)  It's mounted on wood with a disc of craft foam and felt.

I made a couple of tee shirts with this.  (It's a dragon from Monster Hunter - the Rathalos!)

Finished Product!

27  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: 2013 Back to School Lunch-along on: September 13, 2013 10:18:56 PM
I used to do simple bentos for myself in university.

*  pocket sandwiches:  spread filling in center of two slices of bread, squish with other side of a large circle cookie cutter, and then cut it out with the right side.  Can be frozen in multiples.
*  faux fried rice:  cook rice, add frozen veggies, soy sauce, garlic powder.  Stir together and microwave until hot.  Was fast and easy, and can be done with leftover rice.
*  real fruit jam:  cook fruit of choice down, with a little water and sweetener of choice.  It's done when it sticks to a spoon.  (You can also add wine/mead to it.)  Also good for getting rid of slightly soft fruit.
*  preserving colour in fruit/fake Grapples:  Take grape juice (I used white Welch's), and slice up apples.  Stick 'em in the juice, and fish 'em out again.  They taste like the grape juice and don't go brown at all.
*  holding sauce in a seperate container:  I used Kinder Surprise eggs (they are a chocolate egg that has a toy capsule inside), the capsule is really leak proof.  Smiley
*  cornbread muffins:  Use sweet or savory cornbread and add whatever fillings you think will go great with 'em.  I've had chopped up hot dogs in 'em.  The best part is that they tuck nicely into the lunch box and can freeze well as well.  Smiley

Yeah, that Mama magnet actually was a knitting color chart I made for the Crafting Mama contest we had here a while back? But I never actually knit it... it's just as good in perler beads, though!!  Wink I also have a Word file for the cards; you can print them on Avery postcard sheets... would anybody want them? Amigurl? Grin

I ALSO got my package on Tuesday~ And it's super lovely~!!! But I haven't taken the photos off my camera yet, will do that soon!!

Yes, please!  Those recipe cards are totally adorable.  Smiley

I went out to mail some stuff today, and I ended up seeing a package on my doorstop.  I pick it up, and leave it for later...

Ryn, I love all of this!  Smiley  It doesn`t look like a replacement craft item.  (I`m going to use these two storage boxes for my rubber stamps!)  The brachydios one is awesome - I`m going to put all my jewelry in here!  Smiley

As you see, I have a mania for earrings.  I have no idea why, but yeah...a big mania for m!  The Tetris ones are so small and cute!  (I have to fix the winding on the Katamari ones!)
