1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Coraline Rd 2 Gallery on: October 21, 2009 05:14:10 AM
Here are the awesome things I received from Teffy:

Mouse Hat - very adorable and soft and squishy

A button-eyed Octopus which my dog has been obsessed with sniffing ever since I took it out of the package

And I forgot to load my photos for these, but I will update this post soon:

- Multiple sets of button earrings
- Bleach-dyed t-shirt featuring "Black is Traditional" and key logo.

Thanks so much! I enjoyed this swap![/img]

hey guys!

just wanted to check in and let you guys know that i'll be a bit absent on this board for a week. My laptop died (for the second time this month!!! arg!) and I'm having to send it off to get repaired.  The first time it was the harddrive and now its the motherboard (whatever that is).  So I'm crafting and I talked to my pal, teffy, so don't think I've gone AWOL!

I'm going this afternoon after work to shop for crafting supplies! So far, my ideas are:

Forcible's hat (my partner doesnt like pink, but I want to stay true to the movie...so, sorry partner..there will be one pink rose in this hat...I hope you understand! If the rose wasnt pink...it wouldn't be Forcible's!)

a Coraline-themed scarf with stars!

10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / How to Knit a Cake Base? on: August 04, 2009 07:02:52 AM
Hey Craftsters!

I am sure most of you guys have seen patterns for cake slices (very adorable!) and even patterns for whole cakes (even more delicious), however what I want to make is a cake with a slice missing (and then knit that slice separately so it can slide in and out of the slice-hole (that term sounds sorta wrong...).  I know how I'm going to try to approach the cake slice but the missing-slice-whole-cake has got me stumped.  A whole cake would be a giant circle and I would probably knit the base from the inside out, attach the crust, and then pick up stitches again for the top icing.  But if I wanted a slice missing...how would I do that?

I have a feeling maybe something along the lines of....CO a few stitches and then increasing like a half-moon shawl...does this seem like the right track?
