51  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Re: Patterns for monkeys that are not made of socks? on: August 28, 2005 09:56:05 AM
Thank you! Very cute.
52  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / A different intarsia pattern for Powerful Wrist Protection? on: August 28, 2005 09:50:19 AM
I want to make powerful wrist protection from SnB for my friend, but with different intarsia patterns. I've already seen one for a skull, which I would make in black, but I'm looking for a guitar to make in red and black. I haven't found any, so if someone could explain how to make a pattern (on a macintosh) or make one for me, I would love it!

Pretty please?

I'd really like to make a monkey for my friend, but the ones made out of socks seem a bit complicated (and involve sewing, which is not a strong point). I'd prefer knitted monkeys. I've searched and haven't found anything.

Oh, thank you. And is it just me, or has this thread died a bit? Or else we're all working madly... Grin. Well, I finally managed to get pics, as my digital camera was not working. Here's a teaser:

Not very good, I know. Charcoal under diluted black watercolor. The charcoal didn't really show up. 'twas a circle pattern.

55  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: uglydolls! on: August 17, 2005 08:17:55 AM
Yeah, I've been thinking about making some too, and I tried increasing on one side, decreasing on the other, knitting regularly, then reversing that. It made nice little curvy things.

Yes, into something beautiful. *crosses fingers* Or I hope it'll turn out beautiful..... I painted 6 pages of backrounds yesterday. That's the progress I've made.

Pics soon. Oh, by the way Krysta, did you use watercolors for the blue on the right page of the one titled swirly blue calm? I was trying to kind of achieve that effect with some of mine, but I'm using leftover acrylics and "patio paint" (I know, I know. But I had a lot of colors), so diluting it didn't seem to work.

Cheesy!!  I love that! So fitting!

Well, I got my book, and I guess I will try for a page a week. We shall see what happens.

Hi, my name is Ursula.

As it seems I would not be totally left behind if I joined now, is it still open? I'd mention beforehand though, that this is my first experience with altered books, so I'm hoping this craftalong will keep me motivated as some of you have mentioned. I'll be off to the library today to find a good book, so hopefully I could start soon.

About the biographical idea: I'd follow the theme if it was set, but otherwise, I'll probably just experiment different things on different pages.

And this is my first experience with a craftalong, so I'll try to post pics and stuff, but they might be irregular.
