22  pompommed flip-flops in Shoes: Completed Projects by chattyKathi on: June 17, 2008 07:09:40 PM
Now I know this wasn't a lot of work or anything, but I found an old pair of boys flip flops that happen to fit my daughter so I asked her if she wanted me to make them more girly, and of course she did! this is what I came up with.

23  Re: Old clarinet given new life in CHALLENGE 27 ENTRIES by chattyKathi on: May 23, 2008 01:38:52 PM
This is made from the clarinet I learned to play on.  Its a really old wooden one and now it doesn't make a sound, but I couldn't part with it.  The wood for the base was repurposed from an old desk.  Its painted black with silver edging.  The shade was given to me as a gift specifically for this project.  It uses night light sized bulbs.  This is by far my favorite project yet because of the sentimental value it holds.

this is the most awesome lamp I have ever seen! Sorry I missed the vote or I certainly would have voted for you!

I was just feeling crafty so I figured this was a quick thing I could do. Hope you like. I might actually add a "strap" later on. Not sure if I'll keep that button , its hard to use.
Thanks for looking!

SO CUTE!! That's what I'm doing, just with santa faces and knit hats.
HOW do you get the paint to stay on the glass? Mine wants to come off at the lightest scratch. And the snow stuff I'm using for beards and hair won't stick evenly. ("DecoArt Snow-Tex") It's gritty and sticky, like grout. Looks great if you can get it on there. Smiley
I'm having tech problems with the camera, but I will post pix of my progress asap.

I just make sure I clean the bulb with alcohol first and then after the first coat of paint you really have to be gentle putting on any of the second coat it does peel off easy, when I am done painting I spray them with a clear coat matte finish.

here's my latest one
