11  my sweet beautiful fairy. in Halloween Costumes by chattyKathi on: November 01, 2009 02:58:35 PM
First I want to say that everyone's costumes are so great I know I haven't got a chance but here's my entry anyway.
I started out with an old flower girl dress that was a bit small for my daughter and cut the top part off. I tied on three different color tulle strips all around the skirt  and ribbons. Her crown was made with craft wire and  these foam beady things, flowers and more tulle and ribbons.  her wings I made out of coat hangers and old stockings. I painted glitter on them and they also glow in the dark! . her wand was a plastic ornament stuck on top of a chopstick! and all glittered up. I also painted pretty stuff on her face but you can't really see it in these pics. Thanks for looking!

I made these ornaments last year,

http://www.netspeed.com.au/qazicat/paper/red_ornaments.jpg

They look great on the tree what ever colour you make them in.  I was so impressed that I have made quite a few of them.

There are photos of other colours and a mini tutorial on the post here:

I remember these! it inspired me to make  one like this...no beads on it though (the circled one)

ook my kids just made these, I just had the inspiration, lol. these are plastic trinket boxes with tiny Styrofoam beads in them (like you find in a bean bag chair  Roll Eyes with googly eyes and pompoms and ric rak. You could do these with the clear glass ornaments everyone was talking about earlier.
they look alot cuter in person!

well I only have one costume(my son didn't want a home made costume this year. Sad )and compared to these I've seen its not that great but here goes. My daughter wanted to be a bat so I took an old velor skirt and cut it up, sewing it to a black shirt and added black pants . ears on a head band and wa la...bat.

19  Re: SheRa and Lion-o costume in Halloween Costumes by chattyKathi on: October 01, 2008 05:57:24 PM
Thats how I hope my kids feel when they grow up, We always work so hard on out costumes and finally lat year my son won for his Frankenstein costume! I always am so disappointed when I see store bought costumes win because anyone can do that. here's a pic. and just for giggles here's pics of both of them last year.
I'd like to see a thread with what everyone comes up with for their kids. Always lots of adult stuff on here, never much for the kids..
