1  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 7 ENTRIES / from ratty jeans to apron strings on: November 06, 2005 09:23:46 AM
Just when I thought these jeans were destined for the thrift store...

I came across this challenge and decided that a jean apron/tool belt would be just what I needed!

So instead of going to the thrift store, this pair of jeans went into my living room, where with a pair of scissors some seam tape, a needle and thread (gosh, demin is tough to hand sew) and some red cherry print fabric, I made the jean apron that you see here!

I left the waist belt on the jeans along with the belt loops, and then the cherry fabric ties in the back as well.  I also cut the legs straight across and had to cut and tack down the first inch and a half of the butt seam to get the front of the apron to lie flat

I came up with the apron idea on my own, but I did a little bit of searching after I was finished, and discovered that at least one person on craftster and the people at Readymade magazine had the same idea...so I guess it's a not-so-original original idea...but you know what they say about great minds Wink

Thanks for looking!

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / "Irish Hiking Scarf" on: March 18, 2005 10:59:33 PM
I just finished this scarf earlier tonight.  It's the Irish Hiking Scarf Pattern from Hello Yarn (http://www.helloyarn.com/irishhikingscarfpf.htm) with Red Heart Supersaver yarn, size 10 needles (instead of 8s) and about 10 inches longer than the pattern calls for...made it for my boyfriend but am considering keeping it for myself Wink

3  UNITED STATES / Kentucky / (going to be) New to Lexington-help?? on: March 17, 2005 11:25:08 AM
Hi all,
First off, I should introduce myself...I'm currently living in Wyoming (doing a year as an AmeriCorps VISTA) but in 3 months and 9 days, I'll be moving to Lexington!! I went to college in Ohio, and spent many weekends down at the Red and can't wait to be moving back to the area!

I haven't posted much on craftster, but I love checking in to see the amazing projects everyone is doing! I just learned how to knit, l just started embroidering stuff this year, can sew a bit, and LOVE photography.

I'm currently looking for jobs in the area (and sending out resumes and looking for more jobs and...) I was just wondering if anyone out there had some ideas of different places to look, openings that might appeal to a fellow crafter...I'm constantly on the college employment pages, and the classifieds for most newspapers in the area, monster.com/careerbuilder.com etc, but I'm sure there are opportunities out there that I'm missing.  Any ideas, suggestions would be greatly, greatly appreciated...

I'll also take any suggestions about the area, places to shop, eat, must-go-to events, nice areas to live, not nice areas to live, when the snb and the craft clubs meet Wink

I know this is a lot to ask but just let me say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU in advance!!
