Okay I checked out Coffee House Fabrics in Richmond today and I'm so excited about it!

I thought it was the neatest little store (they're also really really nice there...and excited to hear that their store is being talked about on the internet Wink ) so it's definitely worth visiting if you're in Richmond, near Richmond, or driving by Richmond. =)

Just when I thought these jeans were destined for the thrift store...

I came across this challenge and decided that a jean apron/tool belt would be just what I needed!

So instead of going to the thrift store, this pair of jeans went into my living room, where with a pair of scissors some seam tape, a needle and thread (gosh, demin is tough to hand sew) and some red cherry print fabric, I made the jean apron that you see here!

I left the waist belt on the jeans along with the belt loops, and then the cherry fabric ties in the back as well.  I also cut the legs straight across and had to cut and tack down the first inch and a half of the butt seam to get the front of the apron to lie flat

I came up with the apron idea on my own, but I did a little bit of searching after I was finished, and discovered that at least one person on craftster and the people at Readymade magazine had the same idea...so I guess it's a not-so-original original idea...but you know what they say about great minds Wink

Thanks for looking!

8  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Branching Out scarf knit-along on: September 25, 2005 05:21:48 PM
Glad to see this scarf turns out as gorgeous as it looks in knitty! I'm so inspired that I'm going to put off cleaning my apartment to start tonight! Wink

I've never knit lace before, but I'm hoping with the internet and a knitting book by my side I can figure it out without pulling my hair out Wink

actually, I live not far from Richmond (because of my new job, I ended up 20 miles away from Richmond instead of in Lexington) so if you have any ideas about places to buy yarn or things I shouldn't miss in Richmond/Berea or Stitch-n-Bitches in the area...I'd love to know too =)

=)

I'm glad it's helped someone else, too.  I've got to print these up for when I move in 17 days (YAY!!!) Thanks for all the suggestions!
