1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Some Zines I've made (pic heavy) on: October 21, 2006 02:24:12 PM
Hi! Here are some zines I have made this year.

This one is about how to pee standing up, if you're a grrrl:

This one is a short photo essay:

These two are ones  that I made with the kids that I teach (Religious Education at a Unitarian Universalist church:

And this is a knitting zine that I have in the works:

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / New Generation T stuff... Piccy Moderate. on: April 18, 2006 03:00:07 AM
So I got Generation T this weekend, which is perfect because I have been hoarding awesome thrifted T-shirts for a while... and now I hvae some inspiration to use them.

This one is still too big, but you get the idea:

This one was a tab gappy at the boobs, so I added some corset-esque lacing after this picture was taken.

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / It's official... on: February 04, 2006 10:47:08 PM
My mother called me a "Yarn Geek" tonight. I think it might have something to do with how much I was gushing over the random stripe generator. Or maybe because I have 5 knittin gprojects going right now, as well as a spinning project. And I spent (her) money on a bunch of yarn today.

4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / New Zine! on: November 25, 2005 04:20:37 AM
So I started a Zine, called El Bistec (I'm a vegetarian, meat has nothing to do with it really). I have a website where each issue is posted ( preg_replace('/(.{19})/', '$1 ', 'www.elbistec.blogspot.com') ), and I'm also going to make hardcopies and distribute it locally (local for me is Ventura County, California).

If you live in VC or even nearby -contact me! I am offering free advertising to bands, artists, crafsters, small businesses, etc.

If anyone has done this before, or has any suggestions, let me know!

See sam run, when I try to put his new raincoat on him:

Today it rained for the first time since I made it, and while he was glad to be dry, he was also really glad when we came home and got to take it off  Grin
6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Help... Gromet Tape? on: October 18, 2005 10:57:57 PM
Alright, here's the deal:

I live in Ventura, California. I have searched every Fabric / Craft store in the county, and NO ONE has Gromet Tape. No one.

Where the hell can I find it? I really don't want to order it online... I recently had problems with online orders (credit cards + the internet = not always good).

Any suggestions? ZombieTeeth, does Joanns does Special Orders?

Bah... help. Please?  Embarrassed
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Hobo bags!!! on: October 10, 2005 03:57:51 PM
Hiya! Here are two hobo bags I made the Tina Fish way. I made the leopardprint one first, and the brown plaid one second. I made the strap long, and wear them messanger-style, because if it's not strapped to me, I tend to lose it  Grin

Some nifty rings I added to the strap:

The AWESOME lining fabric:

The whole thing:

Star Lining fabric:

Faux brown suede with light blue plaid:

I'm totally on a rampage with these... there will be many more to come!
The best part is they only take 1/2 yard of each fabric, I spent roughly $7 on each one  Grin

8  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Paper mache dress form? on: October 09, 2005 01:36:02 PM
Hey guys, I need some input!

I was thinking about making a dress form by having my mom paper mache me. Like, a thin layer, let it dry, cut it off, and mache a few more layers over that.

On a average day, how long would a thin layer take to dry, and will the starch in the mix be toxic to me? Will it be impossible to peel off without hurting my skin? Should I wrap myself in ceran wrap or rub myself down with vaseline (oo lala  Shocked )?

I'm I nuts to try this?

I'm going to post this over in the clothing section as well.

Thanks!!!

10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Duct Tape Barn. on: August 28, 2005 11:32:07 PM
Yeah, you heard me  Grin

So my mom was in a slump... and I really wanted to do something to cheer her up. So, I was out poking around in some stores, and found a Bucket O Barnyard Animals. Seriously. And she LOVES cows, so I got it. So... I decided these little fellers needed a home, so here it is:
