Well, here I am, thinking I've come up with an amazing new take on using slides and someone already beat me to the punch.

My friend has always told me there really aren't any new ideas anymore, just twists on what already exists - I've always told her people develop original ideas everyday, but I guess she was right. 

I think we all designed our shades a bit differently, they work and look great.  Hopefully all of these ideas will inspire more shades to be made!

I know exactly how you feel.  I made a tyvek purse last week for a friend's birthday and she asked me if I followed the instructions in the latest readymade.  I didn't even know that a new issue came out, let alone one with instructions for the bag. I wish I had known, as instructions it might have saved me a few hours and a lot of tyvek bags.

I can think of a few other projects that have been inspired by the slide lamp, including annettes filmstrip lamp and even my own pendant lamp re-vamp (which may not be as clear, but I can assure you it was)

hey everyone...i've been lurking around here for a while, but only just dragged out my camera to take pictures of my crafty advenures.

here's my slide lamp shade:

it was super easy to make.  i had an old lampshade that was falling apart, so i ripped off the paper.  I punched a hole on all 4 sides of the slides, then connected them with jump rings to each other and the shade frame.  Some day, I might make it longer, but it was hard to punch the holes, so I stopped at 4 rows.

i'm also kind of worried about what wattage bulb to use.  it has a 25 in there now, which doesn't really give off enough light to make it useful.  anyone have any experience with higher watts without harming anything?

I do Not need to be scolded! I just came about the yellow clock trinket, remembered the popularity of these neclaces & wondered if anyone here rememered them (& probably their name). Craftster.org is a repository for hip, crafty, diy (do it yourself) projects.

Some time ago there was a folder here titled misc. non-craft related discussion, but it began to overtake actual craft discussion and was deleted.  Now it seems that both new and seasoned members are starting the trend all over again, this time using the misc craft-related discussion folder as their outlet.  I'm all for learning about the likes and interests of other members and I do enjoy discovering things that we have in common, however I use personal messages and/or e-mails to accomplish this.

I think that it might benefit all members to revisit the mission of craftster and remember what it is about this forum that makes it unique.

I'm guessing that you backed the gameboard with something sturdy, maybe plywood?
I was actually thinking of doing something similar as an end table but I was a little
concerned about spilling stuff on the surface of the gameboard.  did you seal your's
with anything?
