1  working with vinyl records? CRAFTING HEALTH HAZARD!! in Discussion and Questions by kukeit on: April 29, 2008 08:45:05 AM

Hi crafters. It has recently come to my attention that PVC is widely known as a poison plastic, and it was only today that I suddenly thought of vinyl records (which are apparently also made of PVC) and how us crafters like to use them and heat them up in the oven without knowing how dangerous it is to do so!

for more information -  http://archive.greenpeace.org/toxics/pvcdatabase/bad.html
and this is an entertaining and informative flash animation:  http://www.pvcfree.org/
http://www.chej.org/BESAFE/pvc/about.htm

so people! Let me know if you think I'm right! and then warn everyone! PVC causes cancer, birth defects, releases dangerous chemicals which pollute our bodies, and contaminates other plastics when recycled with them! This is scary stuff! I have 2 vinyl bowls and my sister has one she keeps food in!!

2  Super Mario birthday pack! (image heavy) in Completed Projects by kukeit on: May 23, 2005 10:33:50 AM
there really should be a board for super mario crafts. seriously. Cheesy Grin

this looks like a swap, but the only thing I'm getting in return is a thank you card...(I hope)
It's for my big brother's birthday, which he had all by himself in new york, while the rest of his fam is in Israel. I was inspired by the awesome mario quilt and all the other mario crafts on craftster.

the card is double sided (made up of a red pipe and a green pipe) folded in half symetrically.
the t-shirt has 2 printed sides. (mushrooms and 1up)
there's a little mario journal and the piece of paper with the evil mushroom on it is the 'tag', like in a shop. I called myself evil mushroom creations and told him not to vomit on it, or sleep in it, or harm it in any way at all. I also added:  WARNING: possible side effects may include: insisting on jumping into open pipes, having irresistable urges to jump on mushrooms and thinking your sister is awesome.

and a shirt for me!

4  Re: What to do with scarves? in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions by kukeit on: November 23, 2004 10:52:19 PM
you are really lucky. I can't think of anything extremely original to do with them except like combine them with jeans when making a skirt out of old jeans... like here - http://megan.scatterbrain.org/notmartha/tomake/jeanskirt.html

the jeans would have to be rather thin though if you want to sow in the scarves to fill up the gaps...

you can use them as lining in bags, you can sell them, you can give them as gifts (wrap another gift in them that's breakable, and then you have a double gift)...you can sew two together and leave one side open and then you'll have a double sided silk pillowcase!

or you can take 2 (again) sew theier edges together, sew ribbons along the side/ strong elastic, and wear them as sexy backless (yes, again, double sided) tops (not appropriate for current weather though.)

or you can send some to me. Smiley (sorry about ms paint, i couldn't bother opening photoshop)
