1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Making a Fat Suit? on: September 14, 2007 04:58:19 PM
I want to go as a fat man in a bear suit or a fat man in a 70s Elks dinner suit for Halloween.  I haven't worked out all the logistics and the fat suit is presenting me with a problem.  I barely sew and want something beyond pillows to create the illusion (as a short petite female, it'll take some work).  The internet was no help on DIY instructions.

Does anyone have any links, suggestions, ect.?  Thanks for any help you can give!
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Handmade craft websites for wedding gift - Please help! on: November 04, 2005 11:40:06 AM
Hello craftsters.  I want to get a unique present for friends of mine who is getting married.  I don't have time to make them something so I thought I'd support a smaller handmade craft online business.  I tried the shop crafty section but the selection in the houseware section was minimal and overwhelming in the a little bit of this and little bit of that (where I'm most likely to find the right thing).

Here's the stats:
Looking for something for their apartment, decoration or useful item.
About her: architect, crafty, likes vintage 50 era.  Has a touch of goth.  Seems to like modern for decoration.  Also seems to like vintage 20-30s era.  That geeky architecture steel-concrete stuff probably appeals to her as well (And I mean that in a good way).
About him: Not as much info.  He works with computers and likes pin-up girl art (from the earlier eras such as 40s-50s-60s).

Thanks for any suggestions you all might have!
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Gifts outside of the box on: October 17, 2005 02:52:17 PM
I've been trying to come up with gift ideas for my sister's birthday that are less tangible and wrappable, such as a day at a spa, professional massage, etc.  This seemed like a fairly common topic so unless there's already a thread like it, let's brainstorm!  Can you think of other ideas, links, posts to add?  Thanks in advance to all who contribute.
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Present for Parents-to-be? on: August 23, 2005 09:06:15 AM
Hello Craftsters!  I'm hoping you all could help me out with some gift ideas for a new parent-to-be.  He's a co-worker of mine and we're looking to get him a gift for him or him and his wife before their baby is born in a month.  I'd like the gift to be something helpful or useful for the parents but not directly baby-related (that's a separate gift).  I'm drawing a blank.  So parents out there, what kind of gifts would have been loved a month before your first baby was born?  Particularly for Dads.  Thanks for any thoughts!
