11  Help! Sewing darts into vinatage dress! Eeek! in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by lalalibertine on: January 12, 2006 10:24:10 PM
Ok. So I bought an amazing vintage dress from goodwill a few weeks ago. It was only $4, and although it didn't fit perfectly I couldn't pass it up. I really need to sew darts in the back because the fabric gathers above my bum. I've never sewn darts before, and I'm really scared to do it without some knowledge on the subject. Can anyone with some experience give me some tips, hints, or direct me to a thread/tutorial on darts. I would be eternally greatful!

Just to show how much I need this, here are some pictures of my fabulous, but shapeless, dress.

So I hope someone can help me! I love this dress to death and I really don't want to take it to a seamstress! Thanks in advance for any help!!!

12  ugly brown cardigan into cute bolero! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by lalalibertine on: December 20, 2005 11:40:42 PM
i've had this oversized ugly long-sleeve brown cardigan since i was in 10th grade, and i'm currently a sophmore in college. and i think that i've worn it once. soooooo i was inspired by all of the revamped boleros posted and decided to make one myself! the only thing i don't like about it, and i was stupid for not thinking about this first, is that i used black thread. i think the final product would be a lot better if i had used white. oh well. i made it for my mom, and i'm sure she'll love it. criticism and comments welcome!

thanks for checking it out!

13  Re: **TUTORIAL** slouchy hobo bag (the tinafish way) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by lalalibertine on: December 19, 2005 11:18:54 PM
i've wanted to give this bag a go for a while now, but wanted to wait until christmas. i decided to make a bag for my 16 year old sister. it took be about 3.5 hours. i'm happy with the way it came out, but would do a few things differently. i was a little bit confused about the zipper. like many others who tried the bag, it was my first time with zippers on bags. it was also my first time pleating. i really think that my sister will like it! plus all of the materials didn't cost me anything! i took the zipper from an old dress, and i had the material lying around. well, thanks for looking! feedback welcome! and thanks tinafish for the tutorial!

my kitty really liked the bag through out the whole process.

whoops! forgot to sew up the hole inside! guess i'll do that later!

thanks for looking!
