1  Slouchy Beanie! (with link to pattern) in Knitting: Completed Projects by _nerve_ on: May 11, 2009 02:54:48 PM
So I've been wanting one of those oh-so-trendy slouchy beanies for quite some time now but I haven't been able to find one anywhere around where I live. SO, i resorted to making one myself. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. It's just what I was wanting and super easy to make. Only took me 2 days to finish.
But without further ado: The Slouchy Beanie

And ignore that somber look on my face, hah. I have know idea why I look so serious in these.
Here's the pattern I used: http://www.knitting-and.com/knitting/patterns/hats/london-beanie.htm Since this pattern is for a normal beanie, you have to add some length onto it so it'll slouch--I added 15 extra rows and that seemed to work really well for what I was wanting.
Some other suggestions: I recommend using DPNs the whole way through and not switching off like the pattern suggests (of course, i'm rather partial to DPNs over circulars anyway). Also, I used size 10 needles because that's all I had on hand. I cast on the same amount and everything, just used the bigger needles and it turned out perfect.

So yeah, that's that.

3  mini bulletin-board in Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects by _nerve_ on: August 13, 2006 02:18:17 PM
I didn't know if this would work or not, but i decided to give it a try anyway. I'm very satisfied with how it turned out. I modified this design from a picture found online and then printed it on a t-shirt ink-jet transfer. Ironed it on a piece of corkboard and this is what I came up with:

what do you think?

I just kind of winged this. I was very satisfied with the outcome. It went to my best friend as a Christmas present. Feedback?
