41  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Curling Ribbon+Crochet Hook=Many Purses on: May 20, 2008 05:00:42 PM
The bags done in single crochet take 2 spools, one of each color. But if you make them in double or triple you need 2 spools of each color. Each spool runs about $1.99 so it's really cost effective too!

I went through a phase where I thought it was REALLY cool to knit/crochet with things that weren't traditional yarn. Some were hits some were misses. This was a hit! Curling ribbon is REALLY strong! Surprisingly so...The original prototype of this bag seems to have wandered off some where but these are all off shoots of it.

This one I made for my Aunt for use at the farmers market. Forget those plastic bags that are bad for the environment, go reuseable!

It comes with a small pocket on the one side and...

The handles are crocheted into the bag...This was a new addition to my pattern.

One of the first bags I made. I use this one as my purse and I love it! Please excuse the Beauty and the Beast sheets...Mine are in the laundry lol.

This one was made by request for my mom. We live at the beach and she wanted a larger bag that wouldn't hold sand in it. So I made this...Excuse the foot...

Well those are my bags. Comments and criticism welcome!

Let me first start of this entry with a back story that provided the inspiration...

My nephew is three years old. One day he decided he needed a haircut...Not just any haircut...He wanted his hair to look like the big boys(my brother and his friends ages 11-13). My brother and his friends has recently all gotten faux-hawks. We decided hey, hair is hair and it grows back so we took Ryan to the hair cutter and told them to give him a faux-hawk.

Before

After

This project was inspired by my nephews "big boy haircut" and by an old picture of his mother from when she was little(I don't have a scanner or I would add it also). A babysitter dressed her up to look like a punk rocker and took her picture. Here is what I came up with...

Supplies:

I didn't end up using the tights, I returned them and got a second black and white scarf.

The large black this is a place mat.

I also did not end up using the black table cloth(I took these pictures before I started lol). In total I used 9 things so my total including tax was $9.36.

And now for the final result!

My little nugget, Ryan...Well his top half anyway...

I kept asking him to make a mean face...But this is the best I got...

The pants were made from a table cloth and a dog collar, the hat and arm warmers from a scarf, the wrist cuff from a bracelet and the pink beads(painted gray with the paint set), and the messenger bag from the place mat and another scarf.

Individual pics...

Pants

Shirt

Wrist Cuff(this was meant to look like a spiked wrist cuff)

Messenger Bag, Arm Warmers, and Hat set

Alright well thats my entry! Needless to say there were bribes of candy to get him to pose at all so sorry the pics aren't better. Thanks for looking!!!

I'm jealous of the people with that got the fabrics cards...if your really dissappointed with it trade me! i think they're fabulous no matter how many times the secret was repeated.
i used one of my secrets several times. but i just made it different. i'm going to out myself here...but a lot of the cutting/self-injury cards were mine(some of them werent however). i made several cards that deal with that topic. i didnt have 19 "secrets" just a few big ones. they may not have all been the best or prettiest card, but they were a HUGE deal for me to send. so when people get upset about the quality of the card it bothers me because some of thes secrets are huge deals to people and the whining(yes i have been a part of it i said dont send in secrets that aren't secrets) i think can be painful for people who might not be super artistic. i can't paint or draw...so I shouldnt send in my secrets?

just chiming in about card quality...i dont really care what my cards llok like...someone could scribble a secret on an index, stick a stamp on the back, and send it to me and i would be happy...i mean...ultimately thats what this is about. its about secrets...my only issue is secrets that arent really secres...ok i get that some people dont have a big dark secret...but if you dont have a secret...then dont join a post secret swap.

I have a bunch of post cards thathavent been posted yet. realy sorry guys i've been having a rough time trying to get things together for this thing i'm doing...

Here we go...

"I wish you could see that no one will ever be able to love and care for you the way I do"

This next one has 2 sides and lots of text but i'm only going to write the main text...
side one

Side 2

"I miss my best friend constantly, but when she comes to visit I can't wait for her to leave"

"I am secretly dating my married father of 2 co-worker. I'm in love with him and I hope we get married."

"I spent 5 years in college and never earned a degree. I took useless classes(like floral arranement) and failed the mportant ones(like physics). I tell people I graduated-and I put in on my resume."

"I love Japan. I don't say it to avoid weaboos"
I have no idea what this means...could someone fill me in...

Its hard to see but i think it say: "I miss my city"

"I hate her merely because she plays Lexie Grey. Once her and Meredith are cool, I might be able to tollerate her."

Once again...So sorry it took s long to post!!!

Just a note about white bread: We are a wheat bread family, but it's sooo expensive this way! We can get a loaf of white bread for about $0.77 but the cheapest loaf of wheat is around $3.50. The wheat bread that we get (Mmm, multi-grain goodness) is $4 a loaf. For $4, we could get enough white bread to... Umm.. I don't know what we'd do with 4 loaves of white bread, actually!

Thats expensive wheat bread!!! I used to work are a grocery store and our white bread was about $1.00 and the wheat bread(the cheapest kind that is) was i think like $1.77 at the most was $2.00 but I dont think it was that expensive...
