the only problem with melted bead cards is that they never come out perfectly 2.5x3.5...i make little frames out of foil and then peal the foil away. the fumes actually aren't that bad but i use an oven thats not in the house when i do it. the fumes only get bad when its a big project....melting things in the oven is fun though. Aw shucks. Yeah the tree is nifty. I made the bigger frame out of a coat hanger which was difficult and took a coupld to get it right. But once the frame was made you can make anything inside of it. Trees are all I have done but I'm sure branching out to somehting else wouldn't be hard...

Sent mine out today. This was fun...I hope some of them don't break in the mail. I told the postlady they were fragile but she didn't mark them as such...I tried to protect the 2 most fragile ones with extra bubble wrap hopefully that will be enough...did anyone else have trouble getting their cards to be exactly 2.5x3.5? The materials I was working with were unpredictable and I ended up with slightly(not much) larger or smaller cards. Definitely thicker too...It was really fun to stretch myself like this though...

You guys are hysterical and full of great ideas! thanks for all the great comments...I was definately thinking of cowboy toast today trying to figure out how i make a cowboy hat. I've got the rest of him made up in my mind already its simply a matter of doing. Naming him Texas Toast is great though! I love that!!!!

how big a hook did you use?  I'm into the whole re-use bags at the market thing so these would be great!

I started using bigger hooks...I dont know what size exactly. It came in a four pack of big chunky plastic hooks. But using larger hooks makes it a quicker and easier project!

A while back I made these guys...
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=97929.0

I showed them to a friend and she decided she needed her very own toast. I recently(and unsuccessfully) tried to give up swearing. Instead of using the F bomb and I could frequestly be heard shouting "What the french toast?". Its from that silly Orbitz commercial. She thought this was simply the funniest thing ever. So I decided to make...French Toast

His name is Pierre and he enjoys riding around on his vespa with his white scarf blowing in the breeze. He can often be found in French cafe's and writes poetry for his many lovers. He also hates American..Oh well.

Close up on his hat

And a picture of him naked

Next I'm making astronaut toast I think...

They're fine when they're wet. Thats why they make good beach bags. just rinse them off when you done!

Now, do we make something that moves us or something inspired by recipients' interests...?

I think we just make what inspires us. There wasn't any questions about likes and dislikes on the questionaire. I'm making 6 and the 4 I have done I did before partners were even sent.

they generally take a 5 or 6 hours each. good project for doing in front of the tv because its a lot of single crochet. doing it with a larger crochet hook helps too! Grin
