61  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Ongoing Fabric Fat Quarter Swap? on: March 23, 2006 01:01:40 PM
I love fabric...and I'm pretty sure that there are others who share my addiction (I'm not naming any names here...Wink)!!

Anyhow, I wanted to find out if there is sufficient interest to do an ongoing type fabric swap, based loosely on the swap style used in "Ongoing Things I Can Make" swaps.

Here's what I was thinking.  The first person showcases 10 different fat quarters that they're willing to sacrifice trade.  When the second person claims a fat quarter from the first person, she would then have to showcase 10 fat quarters for another member to choose.  It wouldn't cost very much to pop the fat quarter in an envelope and ship it off to someone.  It might be a little more for international shipments, but if the fabric isn't too heavy, the cost should stay pretty reasonable.  If there is a lag, the last person who chose needs to add to what they are offering for shipment.  Rules such as "All particpants must be willing to make international shipments" and limitations on what types of fabrics may be listed would obviously have to be discussed if such a swap was organized.

Your thoughts??

Folks who have participated in a personal swap and wish to share pictures of the items they have sent and received may do so by posting in this gallery.

Please note that this gallery is meant for those who have had a good experience with their personal swaps!  This is not the place to air your grievances about being flaked on!  Lets keep things positive! Wink

Each month, a new gallery will be started.  If you have received from a personal/private swap, within the month, feel free to post pictures here!   Grin

Non-U.S. participants allowed? Absolutely!

All ages allowed? Yes (Parental consent required for those under 16!)

Organizer meets the 4 conditions for swapping and will make sure that every participant meets these conditions: YES

Details of swap:
Its simple.  The goal of this swap is to create the perfect wallet for your swap partner!  In return, you shall receive the dream wallet you requested!  Intrigued?  Read on!  Cheesy

STEP 1: Fill out the swap questionnaire (dont forget to include as many details as possible!!!) and send it to the swap organizer (that would be me, loves2experiment).

STEP 2: Sit back and relax.  Or not.  If youre feeling antsy, or if you need inspiration, check out the various wallet tutorials (as documented by jMi) by clicking on the following link:

     http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=69911.0

STEP 3: When you receive your partners information, read the answers to his/her questionnaire.  Read it again.  Remember, your goal to create the perfect wallet (per your partners specifications).  It might not be a bad idea to pm your partner just to say hi, or to clarify any doubts you might have about his/her request.

STEP 4: Now, the real fun begins!  Get to work and make your partner proud!  Feel free to pm your partner with more questions as you craft.  Its important to communicate!!!  If you have a brilliant idea but youre not sure if your partner would agree about that, check.  Better safe than sorry, no?

STEP 5: When you mail your package, dont forget about the delivery confirmation!  You need to send out your creation no later than 17 March, 2006 (Friday)!  Im going to be pretty firm about observing this deadline.  However, I also understand that life happens.  If you have a good reason for missing the deadline, please contact your partner and myself via pm as soon as possible!  If you are unreasonably (or unaccountably) late in sending out your creation, it might be noted in your feedback Sad

STEP 6: Wait with bated breath for your dream wallet.  When you receive it, dont forget to post pictures in the swap gallery (link will be provided at a later time) so that the rest of us can gush about all the fabulous wallets (and talented crafters Wink).

68  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / A 1/2 Dozen of Fat Quarters Swap? on: February 10, 2006 08:08:14 PM
Recently, I rummaged through my fabric stash to find some fun and funky fabric pieces to send to one of my swap partners (ref:. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=77174.30).  As I did this, I thought it would be grand if someone would send me 6 fat quarters and I do the same in return.  This would be a great way to de-stash your existing fabric collection and receive some new fabric pieces.  Or in my case, I'd probably purchase six 1/2 yard pieces, cut the 1/2 yard pieces into fat quarters, send out a 1/2 dozen of fat quarters to my partner and add the remaining fat quarters to my fabric stash  Roll Eyes

So, who's up for a quick swap of fat quarters?
69  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / A Wallet Swap? (ref. TUTORIAL: SUPER CUTE WALLET!) on: January 12, 2006 05:03:43 AM
This stems from a recent discussion about wallets.  I love hdoglovesyou's tutorial for making a 'super cute wallet'.  For those of you who have missed out on the wallet tutorial, check out all the awesome wallets that have been crafted:

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=20925.0

Is there any interest in doing a wallet swap, based on the wallet design in hdoglovesyou's tutorial?  Obviously, slight modifications to the original design would be acceptable.  If you read (or have read) the entire thread, you'll see that there have been all sorts of add-on features (buttons, magnetic snaps, coin purse alteration, etc.) made by various crafters.

For this swap, participants could fill out a questionnaire indicating their favourite features in a wallet and folks would be paired up accordingly.  That way, everyone makes and receives a wallet that they would love and use.

I'll be glad to organize if there's sufficient interest in this swap Smiley
