7041  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: A 1/2 Dozen of Fat Quarters To Go! Gallery on: March 01, 2006 06:01:41 PM
There was a package of fat quarters waiting for me in my mailbox this evening...and they're from Yirq!!!  She sent me a bunch of lovely cotton fabrics and she did a terrific job selecting them, based on my answers to the swap questionnaire Smiley  Okay, here's a group shot of the fat quarters:

Hmmm...did you count them?  Yep, she sent me 7 fat quarters Wink  It's impossible to pick a favourite, but I'd like to mention that I've already got plans for the butterfly fabric.  I'm making my grandmama a black microfiber tote for her bible and I'm gonna use that wonderful butterfly fabric to line it!  I think she'll love it.  Yirq, thanks for feeding my fabric addiction!

Tell me about that!  I was at the store and I couldn't decide on what fabric to use for your wallet!  This is swap anxiety at its worst!  Goodgrief.  I might send scan a couple of swatches and let you pick Wink

There's a 'heart' because you angeled for a swap Smiley  The heart signifies that you're a 'Friend of Craftster' Cheesy

I'm in Grin

Is anybody else ridiculously addicting to swapping?

Yeah, I am.  I seriously thought about giving up swapping for Lent and decided it wasn't a good idea Tongue

I actually love my post office, it's small and cute, and they really help you, and don't sigh when you walk in with questions. They are wonderful, just their hours don't usually work well with mine.

I like the smaller post offices too!  In my case, I live in the city but work in a smaller town, and I'd rather go to the post office that's in the smaller town.  The folks there are always friendly and never impatient with me when I have a ton of packages to ship out Smiley
7050  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Re: gallery etiquette for lousy swap item? on: February 28, 2006 01:30:53 PM
I'm in total agreement that it's important to post pictures in the swap gallery and graciously thank the person who crafted the item, regardless of whether you think the item is well-crafted.

While I think that organizers are wonderful for all the work they put into swaps, I think that they could help alleviate this problem somewhat. A clear statement of the skill level required for the swap in the main sign up post would be helpful.

bluelise, you've got a point there Smiley  I think it wouldn't hurt for organizers to remind their participants that they should send items which they can make with a certain degree of skill, or at the very least make sure to send something they would like to receive!  Perhaps the swap questionnaire could include a question asking swappers to list three crafts they are proficient at.  Swap participants could then be paired up based on what they would like to receive and what someone else can craft with a certain degree of skill.  Us crafters are all talented in different ways Smiley
