I think most people have no reservations when it comes to taking part in regular swaps, perhaps because of the safety net of an organizer who is supposed to take on the responsibility of monitoring things and finding swap angels when the need arises. When it comes to personal swaps, that's a whole other ball game. fadeawaydream
, like yourself, I tend to be trusting and have no qualms about swapping. I did a personal swap last year with another member of Craftster whom I had been communicating with for several months. By the agreed on deadline, I sent my swap item in good faith. She received it, and sent me a pm telling me she loved it! We communicated a couple more times, and then she stopped logging in on Craftster. I'm guessing she flaked.
I'm not gonna let this incident stop me from doing other personal swaps, either with people I have had contact with or a new person that contacts me about doing a personal swap. But I guess it would be reassuring to see that there are reliable swappers who honor personal swaps
I am with you about the need for a place to discuss experiences with personal swapping - the good and bad experiences. Afterall, that's what discussion boards are for! However, my concern is that there might be people who would have been flaked on and simply wish to use the discussion board for publicly announcing that 'so-and-so is NOT a reliable swapper!!!' and to quote you, "bash, humiliate, or rip apart the flakers". You bring up a perfectly valid point that there is a need for these discussions, but I have no suggestions on how to implement it
