6861  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Re: A thread for Personal Swaps? on: March 16, 2006 06:21:42 PM
I hope to do more personal swaps in the future, hence my interest in this discussion Wink

I think it might not be too bad if we were to take turns monitoring/moderating the personal swap gallery.  Perhaps the responsibilities could be rotated on a monthly basis?

It might not even be necessary to keep a running list of the folks who are swapping.  Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I assumed that the point of it is to have a way of recognizing all the wonderful personal swaps that are done.  Just my opinion, but I don't really wish for the gallery to be filled with instances of folks who have flaked on a personal swap!  Let's keep things positive!   Grin

For example (I seem to be full of examples  Roll Eyes), when Jane and Mary agree to do a personal swap, they don't have to inform the person who is monitoring/moderating the gallery.  If they would like to share their crafted items with the rest of the community (and receive feedback for doing a personal swap), one of them (either Jane...or Mary) should post pictures of both items, along with the names of the folks who crafted the items.  When they do that, they'll be added to the running list of folks who will receive positive feedback for doing a personal swap.  To make things easy on the person who is monitoring/moderating the swap gallery for that month, she should only have to assign positive feedback on the last day of that month...or after a new person takes on the job of monitoring/moderating the swap gallery for the next month.

i too have sent anon packages...to people that were flaked on!

and...i just got done with my first personal swap and my partner totally flaked on meeee!
i sent her bloomers!!!!

taloola, I'm sorry to hear that!  I've done one personal swap and my partner flaked on me too (she's not even checking in with Craftster anymore...so I take it I'm out of luck).  I have her address, but I'm not gonna contact her because I think personal swaps function on the premise that everyone abides by the honor system...since there aren't any moderators or organizers to keep things in check.  If you drop me a pm with your mailing address, I'll send something your way Cheesy

I didn't mean it that way at all. I'm just thinking it would be good if personal swap sucesses were acknowledged, and a person could check prior to agreeing to send. Then, maybe we could avoid what happenened to you. Hang in there, I'll swap with you, what kind of crafts do you do?  :)d

If you want people to know you are open to personal swaps add it to your signature Smiley

Just a thought.  If there's sufficient interest, we could set up a 'permanent' Personal Swap gallery!  So, for example, when Jane chooses to do a personal swap with Mary, both parties will get to post their crafty creations for the rest of us to admire Smiley  If someone would take on the task (and this could get huge!) of monitoring/moderating the swap gallery, we could perhaps set up a swap theme called "Personal Swap" and leave the appropriate feedback, noting the number of successful personal swaps the person has taken part in Smiley  Whew, that was a long thought for a rather tired brain.  Hope it made some sense!
