I actually love my post office, it's small and cute, and they really help you, and don't sigh when you walk in with questions. They are wonderful, just their hours don't usually work well with mine.

I like the smaller post offices too!  In my case, I live in the city but work in a smaller town, and I'd rather go to the post office that's in the smaller town.  The folks there are always friendly and never impatient with me when I have a ton of packages to ship out Smiley
6863  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Re: gallery etiquette for lousy swap item? on: February 28, 2006 01:30:53 PM
I'm in total agreement that it's important to post pictures in the swap gallery and graciously thank the person who crafted the item, regardless of whether you think the item is well-crafted.

While I think that organizers are wonderful for all the work they put into swaps, I think that they could help alleviate this problem somewhat. A clear statement of the skill level required for the swap in the main sign up post would be helpful.

bluelise, you've got a point there Smiley  I think it wouldn't hurt for organizers to remind their participants that they should send items which they can make with a certain degree of skill, or at the very least make sure to send something they would like to receive!  Perhaps the swap questionnaire could include a question asking swappers to list three crafts they are proficient at.  Swap participants could then be paired up based on what they would like to receive and what someone else can craft with a certain degree of skill.  Us crafters are all talented in different ways Smiley

Good gracious.  That's amazing!  The idea of using bathroom caulking compound for decorating Cakey is brilliant Cheesy
6865  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Re: Moderators and Organizers, I need your opinions--We need to give Negatives!!! on: February 28, 2006 11:33:03 AM
Ok, I did it.  Swap Moderators I Cc'd you on the messages I sent everyone.  Hopefully I don't get some really mean messages back in return!

aschnebly, it would be really ironic if the folks who have failed to communicate finally do so...if only to send you a mean message?!?  You're doing a wonderful job organizing Ongoing Wish Swap 7 (I know because I'm in it Cheesy) and you shouldn't have to worry about doing what needs to be done!  Chin up!

Anyone who gets negative feedback this is not a personal blow from me, but I am just using the feedback system the way it is intended.

Kudos!!  Having organized swaps, I'm in total agreement that tardiness, along with with poor communication and invalid excuses should not be tolerated.  By leaving a negative feedback for people who have a  blatant disregard for rules (ref. "All About Being a Participant In a Swap"), you're making sure that the people who do follow the rules don't get the short end of the stick.

BTW, Item #4 in "All About Being a Participant In a Swap states that "  4 If you've neglected to fulfill your part in a past swap, you're not allowed to join any more until you fulfill those obligations. (This information is recorded in your Profile.)"  I guess that's open to interpretation, but IMHO, missing a deadline by more than 2 weeks qualifies as not fulfilling one's part in a swap.

It seems like everyone is having a great time with this swap Cheesy

Yirq, I can't believe you've already received my package Shocked  Brilliant!  I'm so relieved that you like your new stash of fat quarters.  It was fun trying to look for fabrics that would matched up with the answers on your swap questionnaire!

Ezri_B and qazicat, I shipped your packages out the same day as Yirq's.  I'm hoping you guys will receive them pretty soon!!

My partner, luciabug and I have been brainstorming this weekend.  She has all sorts of brilliant ideas, and I'm beginning to fret.  It's official...I've got a major case of swap anxiety Tongue

But I digress.  What I wanted to say is this.  As of 1:25 pm, all the participants for this swap should have an "In Progress" status listed in their Craftster Profile Grin
