Fidget, I love it!!!

I think it's brilliant that you were able to discover a new purpose for something that would have otherwise ended up being tossed out in the process of cleaning out your cupboards Smiley

So, technically, does that still count as 'de-stashing' if you didn't actually get rid or it?  Wink
6832  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Re: A thread for Personal Swaps? on: March 19, 2006 02:18:23 PM
I think most people have no reservations when it comes to taking part in regular swaps, perhaps because of the safety net of an organizer who is supposed to take on the responsibility of monitoring things and finding swap angels when the need arises.  When it comes to personal swaps, that's a whole other ball game.

fadeawaydream, like yourself, I tend to be trusting and have no qualms about swapping.  I did a personal swap last year with another member of Craftster whom I had been communicating with for several months.  By the agreed on deadline, I sent my swap item in good faith.  She received it, and sent me a pm telling me she loved it!  We communicated a couple more times, and then she stopped logging in on Craftster.  I'm guessing she flaked.

I'm not gonna let this incident stop me from doing other personal swaps, either with people I have had contact with or a new person that contacts me about doing a personal swap.  But I guess it would be reassuring to see that there are reliable swappers who honor personal swaps Smiley

I am with you about the need for a place to discuss experiences with personal swapping - the good and bad experiences.  Afterall, that's what discussion boards are for!  However, my concern is that there might be people who would have been flaked on and simply wish to use the discussion board for publicly announcing that 'so-and-so is NOT a reliable swapper!!!' and to quote you, "bash, humiliate, or rip apart the flakers".  You bring up a perfectly valid point that there is a need for these discussions, but I have no suggestions on how to implement it  Undecided

I'm in agreement that feedback is typically left for a member to indicate whether he/she has fulfilled the requirements of a particular swap.

However, rules are usually not quite as rigid when it comes to personal swaps.  The details for these swaps (such as deadline, themes, etc.) are decided by the people who have agreed to do a personal swap, and aside from them, no one else is privy to these details.

I guess the point of leaving only positive feedback for successful swaps is to acknowledge all the crafters who take part in personal swaps...and to establish a record of sorts for people who are reliable personal swappers with a positive spin.  There used to be a list of "suspended traders" and that list is no longer exists, probably because it is contrary to the spirit of things.

Just my two cents.  I am all for keeping things positive.  If there's really a need to keep records of personal swappers that flake (by leaving negative feedback or some other way), I guess that's up for discussion.   Undecided

Awww...he's a cutie.  It's probably my imagination, but the blurry quality of the picture makes it looks like he's wagging his tail?!?

6837  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Personal/Private Swap Gallery - March 2006 on: March 18, 2006 10:15:52 PM
This swap gallery is intended as a way to recognize all the wonderful personal swaps that are done in this community!

Folks who have participated in a personal swap and wish to share pictures of the items they have sent and received may do so by posting in this gallery.

Please note that this gallery is meant for those who have had a good experience with their personal swaps!  This is not the place to air your grievances about being flaked on!  Lets keep things positive! Wink

Each month, a new gallery will be started.  If you have received from a personal/private swap, within the month, feel free to post pictures here!   Grin

Looks like we're getting somewhere Smiley

d, I'll get right on it and will post a link to the swap gallery when it's up and running Smiley  I'll take care of updates and such from the time it starts up till the end of April...and perhaps you could take care of it for the month of May.  After that, you'll have to convince redstar13 to relieve you of your duties for the month of June.  And so forth...

Stay tuned folks...it's really gonna happen this time Cheesy

PinkMafia, the skirts are gorgeous Smiley  I think it's great that you kept the designs simple...which is perfect for showcasing the pretty Japanese prints Wink
