6811  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: crazy charcole and oil on: October 03, 2005 05:03:22 AM
That's absolutely splendid Smiley  I love how the entire piece looks greyscale and the red heart simply grabs your attention and helps you focus on the subject.  Nice!
6812  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Yummy Christmas Treat Recipes Anyone? on: October 02, 2005 04:28:23 PM

This year I'm making vanilla liquer for everyone, and obsene gingerbread cookies!
Check out my blog post about this cute cookbook I got to review: the Cookie Sutra...

answer if kids walk by the computer screen: she's tickling his feet!

Okay, that's freaking hilarious.  I once received Kama Sutra chocolates (yeah, they were pretty graphic...) but these cookies beat those Smiley
6813  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: 3 new purses! brights, skulls and plaid! a bit image heavy on: October 02, 2005 04:06:48 PM
They're lovely Smiley  What are the approximate dimensions for the purses?

6815  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Shrinky Dink Swap on: October 01, 2005 03:12:11 PM
This sounds like an amazing swap idea!  Hopefully, my schedule will permit me to participate in this when it starts Grin
6816  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Re: another swap courtesy... on: October 01, 2005 03:00:28 PM
I'm in the middle of my first swap and so far, it has been a positive experience.  My swap partner (you know who you are Wink) is awesome and we've communicated via pm quite a few times before the packages were mailed.  She has thanked me and acknowledged the receipt of my stuff and I intend to reciprocate when I receive her package.  I've read horror stories about flaking and the general lack of etiquette on this forum.  For a newbie, it's a tad discouraging to read about these issues, but I'm also eternally optimistic that on the whole, the members of this forum are awesome Grin  I agree that it's important to acknowledge receipt and thank your swap partner, regardless of whether the item(s) you received is to your liking.  Most folks who craft take pride in their work, and at the very least, their efforts need to be recognized.  As for receiving crafted items that 'appear' to have been produced with a distinct lack of effort on the crafter's part, I would rather just assume that the crafter is new to crafting.  There might be a remote chance that the item was deemed as 'perfect' by a newbie crafter and viewed as 'less than perfect' by a seasoned crafter.  Yes, it might be a naive approach, but I'm comfortable with that Smiley
6817  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Re: Trift Shop Yarn on: October 01, 2005 05:05:41 AM
Wow...that's a terrific find!  The yarn you spun looks awesome.  I love the colors...they're serene Smiley  My recent experience with thrift shop yarn was less than fabulous.  I brought home a huge skein of turquoise yarn and was all excited to work with it...only to discover dead creepy crawlies embedded in the yarn (no, you couldn't tell until you opened the package!).  It freaked me out and I threw the whole lot out Sad

6820  Ohio / Ohio: Northeast / Re: CANTON on: September 30, 2005 04:57:41 PM
You're right... it was probably just model making for other things, but I was hoping it had a name so I could find out more about it...

The origamic architecture is just AMAZING though!  ...here's a quick overview if anyone else is interested in what it is:

Yeah, it is pretty amazing.  Some of them get rather complicated to do, but the end result is worth the time and effort  Smiley
