361  Re: Beautifully knitty cupcake goodness (how can I make one?) in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by loves2experiment on: December 07, 2006 09:02:33 AM
If you're interested in knitting a cupcake, here's another cool pattern Smiley

I made one recently for a friend, and here's what mine looked like:

The dimensions are pretty darn close to that of an actual cupcake!

I did a personal swap with Tia Cherry in late October and here are the fabulous goodies she sent my way!  In addition to crafts, we also traded snack foods Smiley

What's in the cute little drawstring pouch?  Cool beaded jewelry in some of my favourite colours!

Tia Cherry, thanks for a fantastic personal swap!!

Ya'll are gonna be so jealous when you see the wonderful things that atsuko crafted for me!  She offered to make me a couple of pairs of earrings in exchange for a couple of pantas.  Obviously, that didn't happen Roll Eyes  In addition to two pairs of awesome dangly earrings, she also made me a gorgeous beaded butterfly necklace Shocked  Note how she made them in various shades of purple!  She did that because amethyst is my birthstone Cheesy  Her workmanship is impeccable Smiley  I could never do such intricate work!

Ah, but there's more Smiley  atsuko also spoiled my girls Kaia and Saffy by sending them some new frocks Smiley  I haven't really decided how to divvy up the dresses, but I know the girls will be thrilled to bits Smiley  Oh, and matching headbands too!

Last but not least, atsuko also included a bunch of fabric and candy!!  I'm not quite sure how she managed to find me some fabric that I don't already have in my stash, but she gets top marks for that!  She also gets bonus points for the candy.  In our conversations, I mentioned that I grew up on Smarties (sorta like M&Ms) and I missed them.  Voila!  They appeared in my swap package Smiley

atsuko, thanks for all the wonderful items you crafted and/or included in my swap package Kiss  I love it all, and I really appreciate the time and care you took in crafting the wonderful earrings and necklace!

I did a personal swap with the lovely Melesse in September Smiley  She requested a couple of pantas, and in return, she sent me a surprise!!  Check out the gorgeous crocheted bags.  The blue bag is a drawstring pouch, while the colourful bobble stitch number is a zippered pouch!  To top it off, she also fed my fabric addiction Shocked  I love the lush burgundy velvet and gold brocade pieces!  Melesse, thanks for the wonderful personal swap experience  Kiss

366  Re: Magic Yarn Ball Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by loves2experiment on: September 01, 2006 08:59:19 PM
I received a yarn ball from my partner, redheadskydiver, this evening Smiley  She sent me a skein of Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool to make Knitty's Branching Out scarf!  It's perfect!  Here's a picture of everything...fresh out of the manila envelope!

Being the impatient sort (and using the excuse that I already have way too many WIPs to start another project), I unravelled the yarn ball to find the goodies that are hidden within:

  • 2007 mini calendar with a tiny carabiner
  • foam stamps (whale, octopus and seahorse)
  • wood magnets (rabbit, cat, sheep, giraffe and pig)
  • stitch markers (purple beads and a cute turtle charm)
  • tape measure
  • hand mirror
  • pair of earrings with crocheted circles
  • cool microscope pendant
  • stickers

Thanks for everything, redheadskydiver!!

367  Thrifty Thursday Find - Polypropylene Yarn!!! in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by loves2experiment on: July 06, 2006 07:03:26 PM
I found several skeins of polypropylene yarn at the thrift store.  Obviously, this was an impulse buy since I haven't a clue about what it's good for Roll Eyes  Has anyone ever used this type of yarn in a project?  I would love to hear suggestions on what I can do with this yarn!  Thanks!!

Here's a picture of the yarn in question:

Yep...my very own license plate purse Cheesy  She also sent me a bunch of extras (including bits and bobs of Canadian stuff, fabric, lace, magnets, a necklace made with suede and poptabs, icicle ornaments, etc.)

d, thanks for everything!  I hope you'll receive your swap package soon!!!

369  Re: Ongoing Wish Swap 11 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by loves2experiment on: June 16, 2006 08:25:36 PM
I've been whining about the fact that I have a bunch of knitting needles running amok in a box, and boarderchic saved the day by fulfilling my request for a knitting needle case.  She also threw in a couple of cucumber melon bath fizzies Smiley  Here's a shot of the exterior of the needle case.  One of my favourite colour combinations is black and red.  It looks really sharp, doesn't it?

Here's a shot of the interior.  I have tons of needles Tongue  Not all of the needles made it to the needle case, but the ones that did look awfully cozy in their new home Cheesy

boarderchic, thanks  Kiss  I adore my new needle case!

I received a lovely swap package filled with Tare Panda goodies from DragonsMuse Cheesy

All the goodies - a handpainted tote bag, 5 buttons (2 magnets, 2 pins, and 1 clip), and a microscope slide necklace:

Close up of smaller goodies:

Everything is adorable!  The tote bag will be my new book bag, I might send a couple of buttons to my sister who loves Tare Panda stuff as well, and the microscope slide necklace is mine, mine, mine Wink

Thanks DragonsMuse  Kiss
