I recently had a really flavorful, really spicy hummus in a restaurant and have been trying my hand at concocting my own hummus recipes. I want to hear what kind of spices and other ingredients you clever people use to perk up your hummus!
Here's my latest take on the dish:
I used a can of chickpeas (rinsed and drained), 2/3 cup tahini, 1/4 cup lime juice, juice from 1/2 lemon, 1 tsp chili powder, 2.5 tsp cumin, 1 tsp dried red pepper flakes (mild), 4 crushed garlic cloves, a pinch of garlic salt, and a few roasted red pepper pieces. It was a bit thick, so I thinned it with a little bit of virgin olive oil and the liquid from a jar of olives, then garnished the finished product with dried tomatoes, more pepper flakes, and an olive. Yummy! Now share your tips, please!
