Just popping in to say hi. I know I haven't been posting much but for good reason  - I have been busy with orders! Yeah!

I hope you are all enjoying your summer, getting lots of sales and finding good stash at reasonable prices to work with Smiley

BTW - for any of you with facebook - did you know that you can add your ETSY shop to your profile? Way cool Smiley

Great pics. Thanks for sharing. You looked beautiful. Those bridesmaid dresses are awesome; love the colour!

Serendipity- Yes...believe it or not, I DID notice you weren't here. You normally post quite often. How was your trip?

Our vacation was lovely but always far too short. We visited New Brunsick & Prince Edward Island and then we took the slooooooooow road home through the Charelvoix region of Quebec. We were both amazed to find that there was such wealth of beautiful scenery to discover in our own back yard! LOL we took over 400 photos as a testament to this.

Comments on sales ... We make personalized anything plates/platters - ie for weddings, birthdays, new babies, families etc. but our guest signature platters for weddings are by far the most popular seller for us. You would think that we would be busy during the traditional the "wedding season" and we are but I am always surprised by how far in advance a bride will order or when we find ourselves busy during those "off months". Wierd.

We've been selling online for 2 full years now and I still can't predict when the sales will come in. LOL

Hugh watches our web stats diligintly and we are even fooled by those. Just because we see an increase in hits to the site, this doesn't automatically mean we see an increase in sales.

Been on vacation and otherwise too busy to post but I am back now. Did everyone miss me? LOL Or even notice that I was MIA?

Congrats to Bea and everyone else on their month!

As usual, most of our sales come from our own site. In the month of June we painted 24 plate or platter orders but I think only  1 or 2 of those sales actually came from ETSY.
5  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: Do you own a fiber animal? on: May 28, 2007 11:01:06 AM
Do any of you have rabbits that like to circle you? We've always wondered if it was normal rabbit behavior.

I don't know if all rabbits do it but I used to have a rabbit as a kid and he did that too.  Smiley

Too fun! You're right, it is neat to see so many of us on here, especially with husbands who are too.

I love it because we can bounce ideas off each other, critique each other, etc. We don't really get to do much work together (only when we take on freelance projects, which have been far and few between lately), but I feel like we get along pretty well as a husband and wife design team.

LOL same here.

BTW - Who gets to play "art director" in your home?

Because I don't have the computer skills that he does ... I am the art director. "Move this here, make that font bigger, nope .... a little over .... yep, stop! It's just right". Smiley

Just wanted to jump in and mention that I'm a graphic designer as well, currently working in the industry. My husband is too - it's kind of fun being married to a fellow designer. Smiley

Me too Smiley Our styles are slightly different so. while we might think alike, he can sketch things that I cannot and visa versa.

It's rather interesting to see that there are so many of us here!

as for your boyfriend making stuff up, i'm always interested in what other graphic designers come up with

I am curious to know how many of us are graphic designers?

I was one in a former life (ie before computers). I work as an office manager now. My husband is a graphic designer ... still working in the industry 25+ years later.

Welcome Sewbettie!

"easy to understand sewing tutorials" - I am one of those people that find sewing EXTREMELY frustrating. Anything to make it less so, would be appreciated.

Thanks for the clarification Banga Smiley

Lasandri - if it makes you feel any better. I remember feeling exactly how you do ..... my daughter was born in the middle of August, 11 days overdue at 8lbs 14 oz. I was so tired of being big, overdue, hot, sweaty and bloated!

Thanks for the compliments on our plates rrb21

I have also found some pretty disturbing things on ETSY .... most only because I find the item(s) "gross" and I can't understand how people might want to buy them Huh but hey, it takes all kinds to make this world spin.

I couldn't agree more about the forums jungrrl. What makes someone think it's ok to tell lasandri to use birth control Huh I doubt that they would say such an insensitive thing to her face. Some people can be so rude when hiding behind their monitor.

Nice cards tomate! They remind me of some my mom used to make but she also used bits of bric a brac and cut outs (leaves and such) from embroidered edging (which could be found at one timei but I don't think is made any longer).

Re: promoting your shops .... sort of on topic/ sort of not .... Does anyone know if it is still ok to post adverts to this forum?
