I really want to be a part of this one - LOVE fosters! And I think it is a great idea to check in, but I would have to go for checking in with someone other than who you are crafting for - I am just not sly and I would totally give away the surprise!

Yay Fosters! I am watching it right now!!!

Is there still time to sign up for this? I have done these in the past (not through craftster, through a pen pal/alumni group) and LOVED IT! I will go find Retro's too, travel journals are just too cool!!
159  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Ron-Bother-Stick - crocheted weapon of choice! on: September 10, 2005 08:56:12 AM

with two jobs and good budgeting, the lazy B*****!!

Just kidding!

I actually inserted a dowel before closing the "arm" end of the bother stick. The dowel runs from the top of his reinforced head down to about 4 inches sticking out of the bottom to use as a handhold -  Smiley

Actually fell in love with the yarn and stitch from crochetme; where the pattern there gives you the working knowledge to do the stitch (and explains it better than I could!!) I am just having fun seeing how far the stitch can be drawn out - with this scarf it was easy to drag out the loops over three inches and it looks so... "cascading" to me. I have found some green "ticker tape" stuff that I am trying to make in elongalated (sp?) stitches like this to mimic a shorter more fitting grass skirt.

Here's the stitch - just take out the alternating sc rows and see how long you can make the loops and still be able to keep the shape and stitch straight (much longer than the approx 3 inches I did required real concentration on my part so that I didn't "lose" what I was doing  Smiley )
