anyone have a snowflake pattern for intarsia or fair isle? you'd think, 'tis the season, they'd be every where but i can't find one. something that measures 3 to 4 inches round when finished to repeat around a hat.
thanks!!

whoops... i haven't been on craftster for a while. craft night slowed down in september because i had yucky landlord stuff and had to move. but, i'm now in a house further down greensboro street with a lot more room. and, we just got new couches which means more room for more craftsters. if any body is interested in craft nights during the winter months, let me know. also if anyone would like to share the hosting, that'd be great!

one more thing... the only drawback for lots of sugar related activities is that sugar plus lots of kids always equals crying. every time. and that means parents won't have as much fun. most planned activites tend to last about a fraction of the time that you intend them too. it's usually best to just have a lot of stuff out and let kids make something up themselves. look on craigslist for someone giving away moving boxes. get a lot of markers and clear packing tape and scissors for the babysitters and let them make a city. or paper bags, newsprint, crepe paper, tempera paint, and flour and water (for paper mache) and let them make a zoo of animals.

yeah, i used to teach preschool and middle school art classes.

one word. water.
any kid, any age, loves water. if you live somewhere that's still warm and have a little bit of a back yard, it's the best thing. have them all bring bathing suits and towels and set up a sprinkler, cheap inflatable pool, large tupperware containers (like the ones that fit under a bed) to fill up, and (if you're up for it) a slip and slide. they make ones now that are two side by side for a slip and slide championship. add a bunch of plastic toys, some bubbles and food coloring, plus some paid supervision, and you have entertainment for any age. then, all the adults can sit around, sipping drinks and be very entertained.

i've always had the best luck with the burt's bees powder, it's even better than the cream.

a good thing to remember with diaper rash is that it's a chemical burn from poop and pee. so, keeping their bums super clean is the best way to let it heal. if you can, rinse them with warm water and gentle soap (like cetaphil) after every diaper, at least til it's better. and let them go without a diaper as much as you feel comfortable with. let them hang out outside on an old blanket while it's nice outside, or even on the kitchen floor.

10  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: "growing out bangs" support group on: August 30, 2005 08:35:44 PM
my bangs finally made it to the "behind the ear" length, i feel your pain. it took about 2 years because i kept getting frustrated and cutting them short again.
the only way i was able to live with weird length bangs was to cut them on a diagonal. hmm... this might be hard to explain. i would just cut them so that they always looked like they were sweeping off to one side, that way i didn't have to constantly mess with them. then, if i wanted to pull my bangs back with a clip, i'd just change my part and let the long side hold the short side in. sense?
