1  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Hot Rods? on: August 04, 2006 09:39:50 PM
It's Hot August nights here in Reno.  This means that people from all over roll into town with their old classic muscle cars on display.  I'd love to see some SS hot rod/ classic car patterns.   Grin

3  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Asian Fabric Magazine bento box napkin sadness on: June 15, 2006 11:07:02 PM
I was so super stoked to get my fabric to finally make the bento box napkins from the Summer 2005 Asian Fabric magazine put out by Kona Bay. I've been waiting to make these for months.  Unfortunately, the directions are a little wonky. The amount of fabric to do the bindings is actually 4 times more than what the directions say to buy.    Just wondering if anyone else has made these in the past.  Also, just wanted to let anyone else know that no you aren't crazy, the directions are really wrong.  Unless of course I'm wrong, let me know if I am.

4  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Questions about Quilt Guilds on: June 11, 2006 11:30:27 AM
I love quilting and have always wanted to join a quilt guild.  I'm pretty shy though and wonder if it would be awkward to join a guild because in my stereotypical mind, the other women would be in their 50's and I'm only 28.  Have any of you joined guilds? Is there an age difference and if so, does it matter?  Would they welcome noobish skills or do you already have to be pretty good?  Would you recommend it?  I'm pretty new to this town and don't know anyone yet. I'm looking for some crafty friends.  Just hoping to hear some feedback from all you wonderful quilters Smiley

And as a side rant, what is up with all the quilt shops that close before 7pm and aren't open on Sundays?  How are working girls supposed to support their local quilt shops if they aren't ever open?! Not all of us have the luxury of being able to craft during the day time in the middle of the week.  I know they need time off too, but it drives me nuts.  End rant.
