1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Help with Greek Goddess costume on: September 07, 2007 08:47:03 PM
I am hoping to be a Greek Goddess for Halloween this year.  I would like to make a dress like the one below, but without the hangy-things.  I have a white queen-sized bed sheet set that I think I'll use, and I think I'll just leave it plain white.  Any idea how to make the dress?  I'd like to avoid buying a pattern if possible...

2  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Bee costume question on: October 17, 2006 11:54:20 AM
I'm thinking of being a bee for Halloween.  If I buy a plain yellow t-shirt, what would be the best way to add black stripes to it?

Fabric paint?  Sew on some fabric stripes?  Tape?

Thanks!!!
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Floating fower centerpiece on: February 25, 2006 05:44:12 PM
Hey everyone,

I'm thinking of doing centerpieces like this for my wedding:

I'll probably do a combination of floating flowers (pink lilies and white roses if I can) and floating candles.  I have no idea what to use for the container, though.  I'm not too picky about the color, it doesn't have to be clear, I just want the right shape.  Any ideas??

Thanks!!!

Mandy
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Valentines Chocolates on: February 02, 2006 09:46:27 AM
Thanks to an awesome idea from DrewsUSAgirl in this thread: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=72650.0  I have decided to make some V-Day chocolates for my fiance with Ikea ice cube trays (x, o and heart shaped).

Any suggestions on add-ins to put (other than nuts), so it's not just plain chocolate?  I was thinking along the lines of liqueurs, but I'm afraid the chocolate won't set properly.  I kind of want the chocolates to be hard and shiny.  Would any kind of flavoring work?

Thanks everyone!! Smiley
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Lion Brand Yarn?? on: January 15, 2006 07:52:29 PM
Does anyone know where I can find Lion Brand yarn (specifically the Landscapes, Watercolors, and Mystery lines) in Alberta?  Can anyone recommend an online store that carries these that will ship to Canada for a good price?

I've checked Wal-mart, Michaels, Lewiscraft, and Zellers... and that's pretty much every store that sells yarn here.  No luck so far.

I desperately want this yarn!!

Thanks - Mandy
6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Wedding Invitations on: January 09, 2006 08:24:40 PM
My fiance and I are making our wedding invitations.  We are using a stencil for the front of the card, and are using a multi-surface chalk ink (VersaMagic is the brand name).

We started out using a small sponge to apply the ink, but are finding that it is absorbing a lot of it, and not much is going onto the paper.

What less absorbant material can we use to apply the ink to get a similar effect?

Thanks!!

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Masculine knitting needles on: December 22, 2005 04:16:15 PM
I taught my fiance how to knit, and he loves it.  I picked up a pair of plastic needles today to go in his stocking.  I was thinking of decorating them somehow to make them a little more "manly".  Any ideas??  Huh
8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Oiling my sewing machine on: October 24, 2005 04:37:28 PM
My mom just gave me her old sewing machine.  It's a Kenmore 385.1249380 and is about 20 years old.  She says that it deseperately needs to be oiled, but of course the manual is nowhere to be found (and I'd have to pay for all of the manuals that I've found online).  Can anyone help me?  Thanks!
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Watch strap?? on: June 02, 2005 10:10:37 AM
Hello everyone,

Does anyone know how I might go about making a watch strap like this:

http://www.fossil.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=25146&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=1020&iSubCat=1025&iProductID=25146

I have the watch face, I just need to know how to make the strap.

Thanks!!  -  Mandy
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Ocean/Beach Theme Bathroom on: May 14, 2005 09:28:18 AM
Hi,

I'm moving into a new house and thinking of decorating the bathroom with a beach/ocean theme.  The walls are a medium blue color with wood cupboards and dark grayish-blue countertops.

I was thinking picturer frames with little seashells glued on them, candles made out of big seashells, vases with sand, beach pictures, embroidered towels, etc...

Any other ideas??

Thanks!! - Mandy
