2  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / My first yarn... I am now addicted :) With finished urchin. Pic heavy on: January 16, 2008 05:28:00 PM
Hi everyone!
I have been lurking in the background for a while, I just love looking at fiber Friday with everyone's fantastic yarn Smiley You have inspired me to give it a go myself (I am usually just a knitter). So here is my first yarn that has actually worked for me. It is made from almost raw wool, it has been washed but needs a lot more before I would wear something made from it.

It's all very thick and thin and a bit lumpy, but I sort of like it! What do you think?

Well I finished the Urchin!

Haha, I think it is going to keep me very warm Smiley Comments appreciated!
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / sizing for sewing patterns or how to choose a pattern! on: December 29, 2007 05:08:02 AM
Hi all
I have been reading thru a few posts and it seems ppl have problems with the sizing of sewing patterns??

Patterns are totally different from RTW........they wont be the same size.

You should buy a pattern that matches your high bust measurement.( for a shirt or dress!) That means measure yourself above your boobs in line with your armpit. That way it will fit across your back, shoulders and around your neck ( mostly anyway). If you are larger than a B cup in your bra you need to make a full bust adjustment to the pattern. Do a google search for this.... there are lots of different ways to do it and its really quite easy.

Allways check the sizing on your pattern pieces and remember they include ease.........which can sometimes be way too much! Compare your high bust measurement to the numbers on the patterns ( not on the envelope).........then you can choose the size which has the amount of ease you want. It may not be the size you thought you would use!

Hope this helps someone!

Hi
I havent posted in ages but am still reading! lol
Can I have opinions on this one please?
Is it too loud? I personally love the retro fabric! Amazing what old curtains can make. Its fully lined in black, internal pockets, black piping,no closures, retro button holding the 3d flower.

Too much?
