11  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / the "missing my man (or woman)" swap! on: July 01, 2006 10:54:45 PM
this idea was inspired by the singles swap for those of us who are temporarily alone.   it could be anything from little reminders, to pampering kits, to shrines (although that may be kinda creepy.. Cheesy ).  anyway, the purpose would be to make the separation a little more bareable.
any ideas?
12  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Foreign Exchange Swap? on: July 01, 2006 10:49:00 PM
This would be AWESOME.  does it have to be me that is going on the foreign exchange?  my boyfriend is going to india for quite a while, and something like this would be fantastic.  i'm in california - not too exotic, but hey...if someone would take me from india or japan (i will be going to japan next year foreign exchange) that'd be incredible.  anywhere else too actually...i'm basically interested in everywhere.
13  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: THE GENERIC BOYFRIEND GIFT THREAD: A How-To! on: July 01, 2006 10:36:19 PM
So if anyone happens to be able to find a stencil of a bass, that'd be much appreciated!)

oh my gosh, it must be frustrating to have spent so much time on the shirt.  i'm impressed that you are willing to try again.  maybe you can make a bag or something out of the old shirt and disguise it in some way...
anyways, i'm always up to a websearching challenge....so here is what i found.  all i did was go to google images and type in "bass orchestra" and "string bass", there's a bunch there.

wow, yeah.  that is beautiful.
i especially like it's shape, it seems stiff?  did you put cardboard or something in the inside to make it keep it's shape?
15  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Shrinky-Dink Handpainted Portrait Bracelet on: June 26, 2006 08:35:57 AM
that is so cool!  i would love to try this, but i'm definately not that kind of artistically talented.  Awesome job, i'm sure she loved it.

Oh, and i can see the pics (i'm using firefox if that makes any difference)

18  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Dream Collages on: June 23, 2006 02:34:09 PM
those are so cool!  this is a really cool idea, and it goes so well with it being a dream.  i love looking at the little details and trying to think of what your dream was about.  nice work!i especially like that the trees extend the boundary of the page on the first one.
where did you find your pictures?
19  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: My first commissioned portrait! on: June 23, 2006 02:29:22 PM
that is so beautiful!!!  i love it.  it is so hard to make faces and eyes look natural, but you did an amazing job (i especially love the gleam in her eyes).  i don't know much about painting so i don't really have any tips for you, but i have to say, i really love that it looks realistic but enough like a painting too.  i'll bet it is stunning in real life.  this is an amazing piece to add to your portfolio.
one question, how big is the painting?
20  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Single's Unite! Swap (Sign-Ups June 6th - June 21st; Send Out July 7th) on: June 20, 2006 10:24:08 PM
Does it count if my partner is out of the country for three months? I could get a 'missing your man' kit!

oh i hope so.  that's my situation too, cept mine is gone for two years... :C

Gosh! TWO YEARS, how do you cope? I'm going crazy missing malcolm and he has been gone only two weeks. Another 84 days, 15 hours, 36 minutes and 46 seconds til he gets back! Maybe we could be paired up?

yeah....it's not too fun...it's ok though, i kinda really want a LONG paper chain to count down the days. Cheesy
unfortunately i don't think i'll be able to be in the swap - i'm still in my first one (totally understandable).  i definately would be up for the "missing my man swap" though.
hope everyone has a great time and i'll be anxiously looking for pictures!!!
