11  Re: Owl Swap Round 5 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by SewingLori on: January 08, 2008 08:39:53 AM
I think I was the first to recieve. I got my sweet package from mandylikespie on Saturday, but I'm  just posting. Sorry... anyway... I LOVE IT ALL!!!

I got a crochet notebook cover, a dishcloth (my obession), and little tote with fabric from my wists:

A fabulous crochet scarf. I'm not kidding when I say I've worn it every day since Saturday. LOVE IT!! Mostly I love the length, I can wrap it around my neck about 5 times and it still reaches my knees.
woops! sorry for the sideways pic.  Undecided

and my favorite most favorite owl garland for my bedroom. It matches perfectly. Just as a side note, all of the throw pillows on my bed were made by other craftsters. Thanks for decorating my room!!!

a close up!

LOVELY, huh? Thanks mandy. Your package is just about finished!!! You rock!

12  The Gift that keeps on giving in Winter Holidays by SewingLori on: December 16, 2007 03:17:07 PM
This year I've been making a lot of "Gift Embellishment Kits". These are two that I did for swaps on Craftster and they have been well received. I started making these and giving them as gifts about 3 weeks ago. I've even received a gift from a friend using something I gave her to embellish gifts with.

These gifts are really simple. You can just smash as much ribbon, buttons, gift tags, buttons, twigs, berries, rafia, confetti or glitter that you can and decorate the outside of a can. I've used a baby formula can (I added a lot of bows) and a Pringles can (and stuffed it with candy canes). Then give it a catchy title.

This one is a chipboard can I found at Roberts.

This one is an old candy can.

Anyway, I hope it is an idea some of you can use!

13  Re: Show off your TREE, Mantle, Or other HOLIDAY decor! in Winter Holidays by SewingLori on: December 08, 2007 07:49:44 AM
I'm almost 30 so does that mean I'm vintage, too? Does that mean I can put myself in a store window and sell myself for some overinflated crazy price? Awesome!!

Here is another Christmas ornament favorite:

This is my tree. It has all shades of green sparkly balls from Martha Stewart Everyday from k-mart (bought on after Christmas clearance for $2.50 a box - yahoo!). This picture looks a little crazy because I took it through some 3D glasses that dragonflyducky sent me that turn all lights to snowmen.

It is a dinky tree - only 3 1/2 feet. I live in a dinky apartment, so it fits perfectly.

I'm still so thrilled!

SEVS... I KNOW - I just about peed my pants. You see... Sevs knows this fabric well because she painted me this a few swaps ago.
and it is now hanging in my bathroom.

That wreath is fabulous! Wowzer.

I don't have may pics of my holiday decor, but I did take a few pics of my favorite vintage ornaments.

I found an entire set of these at Thrift Town a few weeks ago. Ragedy Ann and Andy and that silly little dog are doing all sorts of fancy stuff.

This is a painted gourd from a local, gal Jeni Gochnour http://jenibee.com. She makes amazing stuff.

And this wall hanging was just finished a few weeks ago. I've been working on it since May. Sheesh... I am such a procrastinator. It is freezer paper appliqu. I got all of the supplies from my class, so it isn't really my fabric style. My MIL is getting it for Christmas. I am currently working on a more whimsy version for myself.

I'll take pics and get back to this thread.

Are you ready for package of the year? I was so spoiled by dragonflyducky. AMAZING... this is going to be pic heavy because the box was huge and full!
SEE!

The treats!

The stocking... these are tiny one inch squares and they are on both sides. It looks so cute hanging on my stocking hanger.

A zippered pouch (THIS FABRIC!!!!) and reversible headband:

Hand carves stamps and stitch markers:

A knitted dishcloth - can you see the bird pattern?

A journal and handmade soap - I had to make sure the brown one wasn't fudge... it looks good enough to eat!

Log cabin coasters (so awesome) and birdie clips:

A fabulous bird bag - this is totally awesome. It is huge and I LOVE IT!

A beautiful red bird ornament - he looks so good on my tree:

The most fabulous throw pillow - this matches my bedroom PERFECTLY!!!

Hand stamped gift tags - from the stamps above:

And then, she wrapped some gifts for Cohen.

Stickers, a sticker book, a treasure chest of toys and candy, and 3D glasses:

This is what those 3D glasses do to my tree when you loook through them:

THEY TURN EVERYTHING TO A SNOWMAN!!!!

Thank you so much for an amazing package. Everything was so awesome. Awesome! Awesome! I'm so thrilled... can you tell? I've used enough exclamation marks! Wahoo!

You thought this swap was over! Oh no - some of us who (in my case) were fortunately flaked on were still waiting. Our lovely organizer Miss V just sent me a fabulous package as a replacement. The wait was well worth it.

Beautiful Hand Spun yarn!

Beautiful Hand dyed Yarn!

and... the most fantastic dying kit EVER! YAHOO! Now I can't say that I cannot dye yarn anymore. :-)

Thanks so much! I love it. I am so excited to give it a try. YOU ROCK!!!!
