1  Re: I need new ideas!--please post your homemade ornaments in Winter Holidays by SewingLori on: November 13, 2008 06:42:21 AM
Cute cute cute!

I made these tree ornaments last year from Stephani Cognon's (?) "Soft Trees" templates.

These were for the 12 days swap. They are just wood shapes painted and glittered.

Two years ago these were on my little shelves, but last year they made it to the tree.

These are made by cutting out 6 of the same shape, folding them in 1/2 and then gluing cute rickrack to make a hanger.

I'm working on some more now, but they are for a swap, so I'll have to revisit this thread.

My 12 Day Gallery - gifts from 1boy1girl1kitty2 (She's either super generous, or doesn't know how to count because she sent SO MUCH on every day- I'm spoiled!!).

DAY 12 - 24 mini holiday cards (with a drawstring wrapping bag)

DAY 11 - Playdough and cookie cutters and a mug and some hot buttered rum

DAY 10 - Fat Quarters

DAY 9 - Picnic Basket and TREATS!!! (The candy cane chocolate = muy bueno!!)

Day 8 - Spices and recipes - Can't wait to try them!

Day 7 - 100% natural body goods! lotion, soap, butters, creams, candles, and a wash cloth -  OH MY!

I'm on my way out of town for the rest of the week so I opened days 1 - 6. Wowzer!!!! I got great stuff!

Day 6 - Baby Stuff - I am having my first girl in March and Jamie delivered (not the baby... the goods)!! It was all wrapped in a pink flannel blanket that serves as the background for the pics.
Bibs and Washcloths

Sleepers and a cloth diaper

Crochet blanket - beautiful!!

Day 5 - learn to Crochet CDROM, lighted crochet hooks, yarn, and dye to dye the yarn. The yarn that looks pink is the softest I've ever felt.

Day 4 - placemats (used for dinner last night. Smiley )

Day 3 - rug, Jessica Seinfield cookbook, cotton wash cloths (my favorite)

Day 2 - Table Runner, recycled tote, crochet towel

Day 1 - OH MY GOODNESS! Hat and scarf set, fingerless gloves & Mittens

I hope I didn't mix up days by opening them all at once. I was excited but I tried to take notes. Jamie, if I missed something, please let me know. Thanks again for everything.

Sorry for the delay. Here is my stuff from Riario.

A great new tote bag that has already been to the library... I actually just helped my sister make an entire bedroom set (shams, comforter, window coverings, etc) in this same fabric.

A cute craft apron... I love the hedgie hog stuff!

My loot and notions. Look at  the feather trim and bunny buttons. Smiley

Thanks for everything, riario. I think it is all great.

5  Re: Magic Yarn Ball Swap Round 8: The Gallery in The Swap Gallery by SewingLori on: May 19, 2008 04:36:19 PM
I got my ball from beckster today, too. I totally cheated and opened it all up. I knit as slow as molasses and I didn't feel like making you all wait... okay... there is no way I have the patience you all have.

Here we go with the goodies! The entire ball. As you can see, little mister couldn't keeps his hands off of it once he noticed there were gum balls inside:

Everything inside:

market bag
calorimetry (I made one for her, too)
knitted dishcloth (my weakness)
the beautiful blue wool yarn - LOVE IT!!
knitted tissue holder
knitted bookmark
treats
bird house wind chime
hanging metal lizard
Everyday food - because i seriously only cook like 5 recipes... i need help!!
decorated tin with knitting term magnets
matchbook notebook (i made one for her, too)
decorated giant paper clip for pictures
journal
 pens
candle.
YAHOO!!! We were a great pair.

my knitted goods::

my calorimetry action shot... nothing like a good shot to realize that the eyebrows are in need of major plucking action and the roots have gone a little too long. Wink

journal and pens (my guilty pleasure)::

Thanks Becky! What a great package!!! We'll totally swap again. Cheesy

6  Montessori By Hand Gnome Messenger Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions by SewingLori on: April 22, 2008 03:10:55 PM
Have any of you used this pattern?

http://montessoribyhand.net/patterns.html#gnome

I could not quite understand the zipper pocket instructions and had to change my needle to a fatty upholstery needle to get through the layers of fabrics. I loved how mine turned out, but it sure was rough on my poor little machine.

7  Market Bags in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by SewingLori on: April 22, 2008 03:06:04 PM
I've got a boutique coming up next weekend. These are some of the Market Bags I am going to offer. They are HUGE. 19"x18 1/2"x4". As you see the ties can make them smaller if you have a lighter load. They are made from a cotton/linen blend with a 100% cotton lining.

I also made a few over the shoulder totes::

And... a bunch of variations of this tote, but I'll only show you one.

What do you think?

first off... love these little bunny smilies.  Kiss Too bad they'll be gone by the end of the day.  Cry

Let me say that sewknitter stuffed all of this in a USPS flat rate box. Holy Moley! It exploded when opened it. Here are my woven goodies from sewknitter:

Woven throws (4):

Woven scarves (5):

woven scraps:

extras - tags, shetland wool, and fancy threads for embellishing:

Thanks again! I love it all.

I LOVE IT ALLLLLL! That windchime is wonderful and the painted owl... LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

Sewknitter asked me to post the pics of what I sent her. She requested two very specific bags to carry her stuff in. She sent me measurements and I went from there.

outside of the two bags.

She wanted as many pleated pockets as I could fit in there and a center divide. It is kind of hard to see what the inside looks like because the pattern is so busy.

Anyway, there you have it. They are identical to each other. I want to see what these things look like full of your stuff!!

10  Re: ANOTHER Pin Cushion Swap Round 6 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by SewingLori on: March 05, 2008 02:07:36 PM
I'm glad I am the first recipient so you can all gawk with "ooooos" and "ahhhhhs" over what I got. HSG is a FANTASTIC stalker and I received two fabulous pincushions because of it. Oh yeah - she's got superb skills, too. Everything is crafted perfectly.

First up - a beautiful and functional denim pincushion in blues and browns... my favorites. Look at that owl pin. I have that same owl vinyled on my wall in my living room.

and next... OH MY... because I play the guitar she made me one to stick pins in, complete with a pick pin. Smiley Look at the frets and strings and even the tune keys. AWESOME!!!

and another because it rocks so hard!!!

What did I tell ya? Pretty great, eh?
