i wanted to make close-fitting armwarmers for my friend 'cause i think she has the most perfectly feminine arms and hands. (just my opinion, anyway:)). so i started them in march, roughly, and made progress of about, oh maybe 1 round a day as i was busy pretending to be busy at school. but then i pulled myself together and whipped up the 2nd one in just about 1 week. imagine my friend's joy when the long-awaited armwarmers were *finally* done... at the end of may... just in time for the heat... she really did seem happy, though! and she promises to take them with her on vacation to kyrgyzstan, where it gets cold in the mountains. yay.
here she is, dancing and prancing with her new armwarmers on.
i made my pig ages ago, around may of 2005, as an end-of-the-school-year gift for my friend. she wanted a stuffed pig really bad, so when i came across this pattern i knew i just had to make it!! apparently, the hook i used was way too big for the yarn and it came out looking kinda funny. but it was also a project that really got me *hooked* on crochet 'cause i realized how easy it was - i mean, i had only done 0,5 project before, and there i was, making this toy!! to make the long story short, THANK YOU, myloveasdeep, for the lovely pattern!!!!! you can tell that my friend loves her piggy, and i'm sooo glad:)
my friend's grandma has been knitting for, i don't know how long exactly, but a very long time for sure; and she always makes such snazzy sweaters for her granddaughter! i just wanted to share some of them with you...
the blue hoodie:
the stitch it's made in is a mystery to me - kinda looks like it could be the back of fair-isle work or something, but i dunno... anyway, i love it! it looks so warm and cosy.
and here's another one, a simple striped shirt in pastels (note how patriotic my friend is, posing with the flag of kazakhstan:))
these are so simple, and yet so inspiring to me. i have yet to knit something apart from that little scarf i don't wear, and these pieces definitely serve well as motivation! hope ya like! and hopefully there's one more to come - my favorite. i just need to make her wear it for me:)
check out one more on pg.2 - you know you want to!! ;)
i know they don't really match, but it's the original plan to wear them together. if only on separate wrists... i had finished the blue wavy one about a year and a half ago, and started the stripy one right away, but kept undoing, putting off and re-making up until this week. it still came out all crooked 'cause the beads they sell here are crumby, but i'm so glad i can finally wear both of them!! wavy sure missed his stripy.... awwww.
i got this pattern off some site as well, but i can't seem to find it any more. if anyone has seen it and has the link, please let me know! we gotta credit the authors, right? beading on a loom is so fast you can't even tell if it's fun or not! i went through some trouble finishing it, though... didn't wanna do it the right way and had to pay. but it's all good in the end, i think we like each other:)
p.s. i know the 2nd picture shows more of me than the bracelet, but it really showed the bracelets' sparkle before i resized it. oh well.
i made this for my mom 'cause she calls me all diminutive names for "mouse" possible (and you can really make up quite a few in russian:)); and just because a mouse on a swing is the cutest thing. unfortunately, where i live there's not much variety in colors, let alone sizes, of beads, so i had to make the snout and the claws purple and pretend that it was meant to be unique :) the pattern is from a russian book...
people, help me please!! i'm learning to make this hacky sack (http://home.swbell.net/amjack/hackyspi.htm), and it's turning out fine... except i'm a little confused as to which side is which! the first pic of my sack looks like it should - like the one in the pic with the instructions, and it must be the right side. but the way i'm working, it comes out as if this side is the wrong one that is supposed to be on the inside of the ball - it has that row over which you work, you know, the braid-like thingy... so my wrong side (on the 2nd pic) is turning out to be the right side.
if anyone has any idea what i'm doing wrong and how to correct that, please please tell me! thank you!
