If people who isn't that found of orange likes it, it has to be good, right? Anyway, thanks everyone!

scheisner: About the patterns, I have perfectly fitting pattern blocks (I've taken a one year sewing and pattern construction course), so I used those and made changes to them.

And don't be afraid of silk, it's to pretty for that. And read this: http://notenoughthursdays.blogspot.com/2008/11/silk.html

The roses really make it special. The way they're placed is very beautiful.

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Orange dress and grey top on: March 05, 2009 07:04:37 AM
This is my latest finished work.

Materials: Orange silk dupion (cut on the bias), dark raw silk, dark silk organza with embroidery.

Materials: Grey wool/silk handwoven. Leftovers from a skirt I've mad before.

There's a description of how the top was made at my site.

The original plan was to use other fabrics for the dress, fabrics which matched the grey fabric better. I had to change my plans cause there was not enough fabric. But in the end, this look quite cool, cause it's not a prefect match.

If anyone is interested there's more photos at Flickr.
