31  Medieval peasant costume for my mum! in Costumes: Completed Projects by racehorse87 on: July 26, 2007 06:32:53 AM
My family is going to a renaissance faire this summer and I decided that this time we should all go in costume (rather than just me like last time, hehe). When I set out to make my mom a costume she was a bit apprehensive as she thought a peasant blouse would just make her look frumpy and shapeless.

She was actually quite pleasantly surprised with how it turned out and is quite pleased to wear it to the faire! Yay! My dad has been having a ball joking about her being his wench now.  Cheesy

I'm glad that you resurrected this board! I missed it.  Wink

That's a cute coat. Pea coats and trenchcoats are both fab!

I've been wanting wings for awhile, and I finally had time and inspiration and stenciled them!

Nice reconstruction! It's definitely much improved.

I brightened up the before picture for you:

Oooo, Teacouture, what a fab recon! I looked through your gallery, and it looked like quite the process. Cheesy

shydeana, I think your outfits are awesome too - they're stylish, but wearable, which is a great balance to have. Smiley

I have more fashion doodles that I could contribute, so here's one from my statistics class:

I had a lot of fun playing around in photoshop to make designs. I originally intended to make the whole outfit ivory, but the color version is fun too!

I like the idea of the green dress.  Tartan would be difficult though.  No green based tartan-it'd blend in.  Red based would look too x-masy.  I think, like you have, that a blue based tartan or a grey one would look best, or perhaps a brown based one if the corset was changed to black.

Hmmm ... I do have a black corset (with silver grommets), so the brown based tartan could be cool. I do like the green dress even though it was a kind of spur of the moment choice of color.  Grin

Shydeana - I do take some pride in it, but it's mostly so detailed because I do it during class. I have a lot of time to do details in class because it takes less attention away from the thrilling lectures than generating ideas does. :p

I do my doodles in pencil. Once I'm happy with it, I do the outline in black ink. I don't normally color them, but that time I did in Photoshop.  Grin

ogle - Congratz on drawing stylish guy clothes! I've never succeeded at that. Cheesy

Here's my next doodle:

I actually drew this awhile ago, but I had it scanned into my computer, so I figured that I'd color it. I think I was inspired by the music of the Phantom of the Opera (pre-movie). Smiley

I doodle dresses on the back of my psychology notes.  Grin

Here's my Scottish dress design that I just colored that was from a year or so ago:

I don't like to draw the hands, feet or head, just the clothes.  Tongue

I am very sorry to have taken so long to post this, but here is the fabulous cowboy hat that I received from kidcompassion way back in May. I didn't post at first because I was going to retake the photos, but hopefully you can see the gorgeousness of the hat anyways:

Thank you kidcompassion for all of your awesome work!!
