1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / One skein silk scarf on: July 08, 2006 02:23:04 AM

I almost forgot to show you this! I completed this quick one skein scarf whilst on holiday last month (doesn't time fly??). It took a total of 99g of HipKnits aran silk in the Peony colourway.

I wasn't sure about the colours though, as much as I thought they were really beautiful, I couldn't see myself wearing this scarf (too much yellow and white), but don't worry, this story does have a happy ending... for I gave it to my mum who seemed to like it (however with the scoarching whether they've been having in Italy, I suspect it'll be a while before they will start wearing clothes again...)

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Beaded earrings just made on: April 14, 2006 06:15:14 AM
I have just made these earrings, seen that it's been raining since this morning, I felt all creative and inspired today. What do you think? Comments/feedback welcome. Thanx Smiley

These are some glass silver foil bead earrings I have made for my mum. She's into blues, so I'm hoping she'll like these. The accent beads are hematite coloured glass beads.

Hexagonal Millefiori glass beads in bright red with white and yellow flower motif in the middle, and red glass accent beads.

Indian lampwork glass beads in burgundy with white polka dots, and hematite coloured glass accent beads.

Pearlescent plastic beads in purple, and hematite coloured glass accent beads.

3  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Baby's first tattoo cardi on: March 13, 2006 05:01:20 AM
Hey All,

I have just finished the Baby's first tattoo from SnB nation, which I started back in August 2005 (!)... talk about procrastination... Wink More pictures and info about this project on my site.

I made some mods from the original pattern... thoughts?

TIA xx

4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Sangria & Cherries Curly Whirly on: December 07, 2005 03:32:19 AM
Sangria & Curly Whirly

I made this CW using one of the most gorgeous yarns I've ever had the pleasure of handling, KnitPicks Andean Silk, which is a super-soft blend of Alpaca, Silk & Merino wool (that's the sangria) gifted by my Secret Pal, combined with Rowan Kid Classic (that's the cherries), just because this scarf is a greedy mother! 250g of yarn in total! Wow, I didn't see that coming! But then again I have made it rather long, I can wrap it round my neck once, tie it in a knot and it still hangs down my tighs, so it's a pretty nice size (I can't stand stump-like scarves meself).

So whaddya fink? I wore it yesterday and couldn't bear to part with it all day! Smiley

It was rather quick to make too (however, I was crocheting like mad to have it ready by yesterday), only took a couple of evenings.

More pics & yarn details on my site Smiley

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Baby scarf (now with pattern) on: September 24, 2005 12:31:51 PM
I have made a matching baby scarf to go with the umbelical cord hat. I'm hoping this way the baby will actually keep the scarf on, and it won't slip off.  - Enjoy Smiley

Pattern

Banana squish scarf

Yarn: Jaeger Baby Merino DK - I used roughly half a 50g ball (but I guess any DK, light worsted weight yarn would be ok - if it's for a baby, just make sure it's soft enough to wear next to the skin)
Needles size: 4.5mm (or US 7)
Gauge: 28 stitches & 22 rows in pattern k2, p2 - NOT STRETCHED (but if you don't get it spot on, it's not terribly important)

Bearing in mind that this is a baby scarf, the final lenght is: 54cm

Instructions
Cast on 24 stitches (I used long tail cast on).
Work in ribbing (k2, p2) for 42cm ending with a WS.
On next row (RS), continue ribbing pattern and work as follows: work 6 stitches, bind off 12 sitches, work 6 stitches.
On following row, work 6 stitches, cast on 12 stiches (using thumb method), work remaining 6 stitches.
Continue ribbing as previously established for a further 12cm.
Bind off.
With a crochet hook (I used 3.5mm) work one row of double crochet (on in US single crochet), along the keyhole to give it stability.
Weave in ends & you're done!

Any questions, do let me know.

6  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Vogue Knitting Fall 2005 - V-Neck pullover, anyone? on: September 12, 2005 01:50:41 AM

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Sea berries summer sweater completed on: August 25, 2005 03:11:57 AM
Hi all,

I finished this cotton sweater, Summer berries, a few days ago. This is the second incarnation of the yarn (initially knitted a cardi, but wasn't very pleased with the result, so I decided to frog it and start again). Much better second time around.
 Enjoy! xxx
