I use velcro for the front too.  I was thinking of using the buckles for the front and then regular velcro for the belly.. I figured if the neck is extremely secure... the belly doesnt really have to be also.  kinda like a collar.

anyway I think the costume will come out wonderful!!  I bought some white sherpa for a coat I was making quita but she got alot bigger from when I started it and now it doesnt fit her!  now I have to buy more fabric and make her a new one because she needs it!  hehe.  its a coat like this...

same color and everything.. but for dogs   Grin

I couldnt find the faux fur for the hood though so I just used the sherpa.. but now that I need to buy more fabric to make a new coat.. I'm gonna keep looking until I find the fur.

Surcingles are what they use to keep horse blankets on- you pair them with wide elastic bands for the best fit. Here's a photo: http://www.seattlefabrics.com/images/wpe1A.jpg I've seen them in 2" and 1.5" but not any smaller.

I'm making Annie a bunny suit for halloween! Here's my inspiration:

oh my thats the cutest thing ever!   I love bunnies!!!!!  Quita actually had a sweater that had bunny ears on it but now its too small for her!  I have to learn how to knit so I can make her one that fits.

oh i know what those things are now!  they have them on belts sometimes.. well when I was little I used to have one.. and the kind thats got two round ends but one fits into the other.. I cant explain it.. but they were used alot in the 80s!  anyway those would be cool but I think I would need smaller ones to put on Quitas coats.  thanks for the suggestion though!

Awwww... I love them! I really love sewing for dogs.

Have you tried using surcingle buckles for the belly band? They are hard to find, but work really well on my dog coats.

what are those?  is it like parachute buckles...

Huh

ive been wanting to get some of those for coats I put D-Rings on to make it more sturdy than velcro but I cant find any small ones here.  theyre all far too big.

im obsessed.. i cant stop!

(excuse the white specks of fabric still on the dress)

this one reminds me of china for some reason...

its reversible..

so is the bow.

edit: a shirt I made her today...

I made that using an old Baskin Robbins work shirt that I stole from my boyfriends closet (he worked there like 8 years ago) I'm not sure how to do the hem though.  I might just add binding the same fabric as the shirt cause the beige isnt stretchy so it wont fit her if I use that.. even though I would have loved to use it.. oh well.

I also made myself a shirt with the remaining material (im horrible at taking pictures of myself)

my huge arm..

ahh i wish i had more time to sew for her.

7  Re: Old CDs / AOL CDs / AOL CD Cases in What the heck can I do with THIS? by mamabunnycat on: August 14, 2004 08:43:38 PM
I didnt read through the old posts but has anyone gotten the wooden aol cd case?  I just got one in the mail and its pretty freakin awesome.

my boyfriends birthday is coming up (in 2 days) and I think im gonna make him a memory box.. with pictures and maybe some rose petals from roses he got me.. and stuff to remind him of me and our puppy (he lives an hour away so doesnt get to see us everyday) or maybe i can just make a travelling board game.. or.. ahhh.  I started to make a magnet puzzle of a picture of us but now I'm rethinking my whole aol cd case project!

see..

yuck

i cheated for this one..  Grin my friend told me about a thing called "Transfer Pen"..  I am now obsessed with this pen.. all you do is trace on the backside of the printed image (i put the paper up against my window so I could see the image on the other side) and then iron it on the shirt.. then just paint over it with fabric paint or whatever you wish to use.. its so awesome.. its great for detail.. no more trying to cut a stencil and messing it up!!  wooo.

Ohhh, all these doggies are adorable!

And that coat is amazing! Did you use a pattern?

well I basically just made a pattern out of her measurements.. here I drew this for ya... hopefully itll make sense and work for you.  I take this basic pattern and just add stuff like collar, waist band, d ring.. ect.
