1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitting Magazines on: August 14, 2005 05:31:35 AM
Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I was wondering if any of you have some old unwanted knitting magazines or patterns that you would be kind enough to send my way. I live in a relatively small suburb and we don't really have an LYS where I could buy things lke that [only Michael's, which doesn't have the selection I would like]. Anyways, if you have any unwanted magazines and would like to send them my way, please e-mail me at cherryblossomchaos [at] gmail [dot] com. I'd be happy to reimburse you for the postage it would cost to send. Thank you very much!
2  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / NY/east coast weather? on: August 09, 2005 12:46:10 AM
So I'm going on vacation next week in the east coast, but mostly NY. However, I'm from the west coast and I'm not sure what to pack as far as clothing goes, andsince I like packing light, I thought I'd ask. The weather here [I'm from Southern California] is still pretty hot, but I have no idea how the weather is over there. Should I pack light sweaters? jackets? Long pants? What is the general temperature? Does it rain often right now? etc. Is there anything in particular that I outght to pack? I know this isn't a crafty post, but if someone could help me out, I'd be very grateful. Thanks!
3  California / California: South / Riverside Thrift Stores&Yarn Stores? on: August 03, 2005 01:41:53 AM
So I know most of you have probably never heard of the city of Riverside... but I live there. It a sad little suburban city with few [that I know of] yarn and thrift stores. If anyone who is familiar with that area could please direct me to some nice, cheap ones, I'd be eternally grateful. I only know of one thrift store that I go to regularly, so a change of scenery would be nice. Thanks!
4  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / NY stranger looking for Thrift Stores&Yarn Stores in NYC/Queens on: August 03, 2005 01:20:18 AM
Hey, I'm a girl from Southern California, but I will be journeying to NYC, New York in a few weeks and staying for 4 days. I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions for some good but cheap thrift stores and nice Yarn stores? we don't have many of those where I live [Riverside, small suburban city] so I was hoping to pick a bunch of stuff up while I'm over there. Any good suggestions would be much appreciated. Oh, and just so you know, I'm 16 years old, and really tiny, so a thrift store that has clothing that suits me wold be great. Please help me! Thanks very much!

An address would be super nice, as I don't know my way around at all.

EDIT: I just found out from my mom that we'll be staying in a hotel in Rushing, Queens. We're just spending most of our time in Manhattan, that's all. Any good places there? Thanks!
5  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / SnB Spiderweb Capelet on: August 02, 2005 04:26:03 PM
So I finally finished my first non-scarf project. It took me two redos before I realized that the reason I was having so much trouble and was using up so much yarn was because the pattern was written incorrectly. *sigh* Guess I'll check the errata next time before I start anything. Made on the suggested size 15 needles with Lion Brand Moonlight Mohair [the only store nearby with yarn is Michael's. I hate living in a small suburban area].

Nothing terribly exciting, I know, but I'm proud of myself.

By the way, this is also my first post.
